ive got a black top SR with:
GT2871r
step ones
Enthalpy ecu
fmic
open downpipe
ok so i went away for a week.. i come back and that night and take my car for a ride. As usual i let it warm up and pull out of my drive way. I was driving for a while and everything was fine, I floor it 2nd gear and hit rev limiter and then go to 3rd and the car starts sputtering. so i slow down and no matter the RPM is its sputtering. It only stops sputtering under 2k. If i put it in neutral it revs fine but sputters with load on the motor.
So i figure its te MAF and get a brand new one, i put it on last night and start the car and now it wont even idle smoothly or rev smoothly at all in neutral. I pulled the plugs and they're black from running rich im guessing.
some one help me, what did i break?

Did you check to see if maybe you just blew off an intercooler hose? Because I just discovered about an hour ago that that's what was wrong with my blacktop SR, and I have almost the same situation.
Been driving the car with stock exhaust for 2 weeks. Put on a 3" exhaust, test pipe, and aftermarket elbow the other day. Car drives fine for a while, until I hit boost hard and get up to 60, at which point it spews black smoke out the exhaust and sputters and coughs and won't stay running unless I nurse the gas pedal. Eventually discover popped off intercooler hose, re-attach, and all is peachy.
I'm guessing that my car naturally boosted harder because it was no longer restricted by the stock exhaust, and that increased boost was enough to blow the hose off (which I found out wasn't even tightened by the former owner  ). Since you upgraded your turbo, I can only guess that the same thing happened to you :)

Number one: Stop driving like a maniac on the road.
Two: you blew off an intercooler pipe.
Three: Keep it on the track.

nah i dont think its the IC piping i took the nose apart last night and everything seemed fine, i sent my IC out today to get pressure tested and ill have it back today.
my hot pipe is flex-a-pipe maybe its finally giving up on me, we shall see when i go home and take more shit apart.

defently not the maf...
check all the piping... like double check cause im with them that happens a lot and sounds very similar...
did the motor make any unusual noises after you hit the rev limiter???

yea i figured it deff isn't the maf but i cant figure out what else it could be. the IC and all of the piping is chillin on my garage floor as of now. ill put it back together tonight.
i just got off the phone with the radiator service, they said the IC has been pressure tested and was fine and they're sending it back to me now.

Flex hotpipe?
Get hump couplers instead with solid piping.

Why would you send your intercooler to get pressure tested? Make your own tester for $10. If your intercooler wasn't holding pressure your motor would ran shitty if at all.
Four: re-read carlos's steps one through three. Keep it on the track. You have a boost leak in the piping. metal compresses and expands. tighten down the hose clamps and check the couplings for tears.

because the top bracket started breaking off and the bumper was pushing the intercooler on a piece of metal and i just wanted to make sure it didn't puncture it. i didnt pay anything either.
