Any reason why it doesnt work. Tryin to help out a friend with his s13 and never knew why it didnt work. Thanks for any help.

Mine used to work and stop working whenever it want and i just bought a new one.

Whoa, dude, that's a pretty open ended question.
First place to start, wiring and sensors. Use the FSM to find out how to check these items.
If that doesn't solve the problem check the actual gauge and gauge cluster.

lol my bad. Okay, i think it sensors though. Because the cluster is fine, bought another one too, and i know it works just incase.

or it could be the coil in the tach itself, like mine

well i have two clusters, that would mean the coil is messed up in both?

You have to give us a better history on the car did it just stop working suddenly or did u do a engine swap and it wouldn't work after? Also what year is the car. If it is an '89 or '90 and it has a kade or sr-20 in it the stock '89-'90 cluster will not work because the later models use a much lower voltage tach signal and the old clusters don't even recognize it.

My bad fellas.
Okay, gist of the car, its an 89, swapped i believe a s14 motor in there. We changed it to the dohc cluster as well.
