My freind has asked me a question that i cant answer.... and i was wondering if a zilvian could answer me. cuz ye shure r smart. Okay, so cops around here have been doing random checkpoints that are setup to check for hot parts or something thats not street legal, or for a lame excuse to search your car. Nonetheless we think we can fool these piggies if we can make our cars look stock and lame, scarred of an impound + crush, but theres still one problem.....
the exhaust still sounds too sexy!(graawwwr).... is there a way to kill the sound????:aw:
.........loss in preformance is not an option btw

You can also try the Apex World Sport exhaust or the NOIR if you want to be sleek (WS painted black) or the Greddy SP2. All are pretty quiet and should keep the po po's off your back unless you drive like an idiot.

Man, that post was hard to read.
You can go for what John posted there, or you can go to Jeg's or Summit Racing and order a resonator and muffler, and get your system custom done for about half that price.

Yeah I have a exmag on a NA KA right now but I only got it because I plan on going turbo very soon, but on my NA it is quiet at idle and it is actually pretty loud when you get on it. But if your looking for sleeker looks and a exhaust that sounds nice then it is your one. Plus extremely good quality. Hit up Aspec logan for one.

or..... what I'm doing.
have your "hi power exhaust"
go to apexi
buy the exhaust control valve found here:http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_exhaust_detail.asp?id=251&pageNum=1
install and call it a day.
I heard of electronic ones coming out but idk

That thing is a nightmare maveric.. I had one, blew out every gasket in the exhaust system, it killed performance, wouldn't stay in place... just a mess.

The Apexi Exhaust Control Valve? Mine never gave me problems. NO gaskets blown. No loss in power when opened completely. It stayed in place just fine. And it silenced the car just fine. I tracked with mine on, and I even dynoed the car with it on. No problems.

IMO, the ecv is fine. i run one on my car in san diego. cops havent looked at me twice when i had the valve partially closed.
only issue i have with it is clearance, but mine is the 80mm flanged version so that might be the issue. it hits the bottom of the car once in a while.
i've also tried the ATS, but that's annoying because the spring rattled when i downshifted or let off the throttle.

Where did you put the valve? I had the 80mm version also, and it cleared everything. I put it between the mid pipe and the axle back. Best place IMO.

SR or KA? Big difference when you need to move allot of high pressure exhaust. Went from an meagan dp with the valve and an N1 to a blitz dp, and buddy club spec II, huge increase in performance.
On the SR it would push the valve open after about a year of having it in under WOT.

That's what I have too!! Only problem is there aren't anymore available, I picked up the last one on the group buy through enjuku.
Now if I could only put it on the hatch. It's been sitting in my garage for over 2 month now.
nismornr, can you post some sound clips? I would like to hear what it sounds like, since my SR isn't installed yet.

lol so i supposed getting a buddy club spec II for my NA KA (itll be turbo next year) wont be quieter than the 3" N1 single i have on there huh?
:2f2f:
and to add to the list of suggestions, with whatever you go with, use a hi flow cat, a test pipe will def. add to the noise level!

Please take a look at our Touring Medalion and Concept G exhausts which are both under 93db. In the majority of states a street legal exhaust systems must be under 95db. You should check you local laws to find exactly what is and is not legal.
We incorporate a number of strategies in keeping the noise under the 93db mark and ensure a very deep low frequency tone. Our systems are fully constructed out of the highest grade SUS304 stainless which is extremely durable, light, and reduces resonation of the exhaust note. We also use ADVANTEX packing material which greatly reduces db output without compromising flow.
You might try checking youtube for sound clips of our exhaust systems.

High flow cat, resonator, and muffler of choice. Then just have a muffler shop put it all together.
Cheaper then a cat back most times, and you can buy whatever resonator and muffler you chose to make it as loud or quiet as you want.

Why would you have that valve closed at all under WOT anyways?

While it may come out to be a little cheaper you are really cheating yourself when you go this route. A muffler shop is going to be using mild steel piping, which is prone to rust and which is very heavy. Ther muffler shop is also going to use crush bent piping instead of mandrel bent piping. Also fitment may not be perfect and you may experience rubbing. I would suggest just spending the extra $100 and get an exhaust that is higher quality, performs better, has better resale value, and will outlast a custom exhaust.

seems like good reviews here
the guy reviewing it was like
"its only open or shut for me"
why not just run a silencer in something like abuddy club if you absolutley have to drive through a CHP party on the street.
then when your at the track take it out.
it seems only applicable to ghetto street racing bullshit.
I hate that thing personally, I would rather just get a nice titanium exaust system with a large turbo muffler on the back and for a cat delete sub adynomax race muffler.

I have THE ultimate solution.
The po-po's won't even know what hit them, trust me.
I've read reviews of the blades adding considerable amounts of power.
