I just picked up a 97 240sx today and the MAF needs to be replaced, but I noticed that the brakes feel like crap and don't stop the car very well. The guy I got the car from said they were just bled and he doesn't know what the problem could be. He said it might have something to do with the MAF because the brakes use pressure? I don't know, but he confused the hell out of me. Is there any way that the MAF could have something to do with the brakes?

That guy is an idiot, a Maf sensor is what meters how much air is going into ur engine. There not even remotely related. The brakes probably still have air in the system, because if that guy thinks a maf sensor has something to do with ur brakes, i really wouldnt trust him bleeding the brakes. What does the pedal feel like? Is it spongy? If so then u probably either have air in the system or your master cylinder is bad. If the pedal feels like it has no power assist then the booster could be bad or it may have a vacuum leak at the vacuum source to the booster.

is the pedal really hard to push (and does it try to stall when u hit the brakes?
if so - booster.
if no - bleed em properly, and inspect them.

Pedal is pretty hard to push. But the reason it is stalling is because of the MAF.
I guess I should try re-bleeding them and if not then I'll get a new brake booster?
Thanks guys.

Now if I were to pick up a z32 MAF, could I just change the settings on my SAFCII and have it work fine?

You should really listen to what people are trying to tell you. I've never heard of a MAF causing a problem with the brakes. Its like saying my tires need to be replaced because my deck isn't turning on when I turn on my car?:loco:

I'm not talking about the brakes anymore, I'm just saying what should I set my safcII to if I want to use a z32 MAF? Cause I need a new MAF anyways.

there was a 'safcII thread for the newbs' in the tech section the other day. That should help you out.

Okay, I'll refer to that.

why would you want to put a z32 maf on a ka car. There really is no point, I have a sr with a stock sr maf sensor. THere would be no gain from putting a z32 maf on a ka engine. Is it a Ka-t, or am i missing something????????? If your engine is stalling out when you hit the brakes you probably have a vacuum leak. Or you have an internal booster problem, which is more unlikely.

I just thought it would be an alternate route instead of getting a ka maf, cause theyre so hard to find. But nevermind, I found one.
