who has the mcguard(or any other brand) lug nuts with the base that spins free of the lug nut?

Wondering if they ACTUALLY save/help your wheel or if it's just a sales gimic(sp)?

I wouldn't mind spending the extra 30 bucks if they saved hundreds of dollars worth of wheels....The regular gorillaz are 30 and the spinning mcguards are 60... what to do? what to do?

i am a big fan of the mcguards.. better torque readings.. no chipped paint..

dont get all crappy looking like all the other lug nuts i have used.

IMO they are worth it.

You NEVER impact wheel nuts, period. Every idiot tire guy may do it because he's paid by the job and wants to get the car in and out quick, but that's a shitty way to do it.

I know why you say this, and in theory i agree. HOWEVER, when trying to get new tires on ASAP at the track when time is running down, i will grab the impact and take my wheels off. I'll then snug them up, and torque em back on by hand/torque wrench.

I impacted my cheap ass 20 dollar pep boys "locking" lugs many times... They are FINALLY wearing out after a years use... I'm hoping that these 60 dollar mcguards will be a little tougher...

Again... I am not saying anyone SHOULD do so...nor is it a good idea... however, i will prob. do it with whatever lugs i buy...thats why I ask...

R240na- you seem to have the answer for everything...Whats your knowledgeable opinion/advice??? Regular gorillaz or the 60 dollar mcguards w/ spinnerrsssss...

Thanks!

I use spline drive nuts, some knockoff of the big names I'd guess. My wheels have caps so I'm not really worried about paint removal behind the nut.
