KA24DE. Ok I just drove to Ohio from Florida a few weeks ago and half way there when I was in the 2900 rpm range my one of my belts were squealing like mad. I sourced it to the Fan/ Powersteering Belt.
I bought a new belt and put it on and it still squealed so I tightened it and now it squeals still but at the 4-5k range which is better but still not right. That belt is on pretty damn tight and i don't want to tighten it anymore. So I figured well maybe one of my pulleys are seizing. I got the belt lose right now and I can spin the fan clutch freelly but when I spin it I hear some clicking noises.
Not a whole lot but I have no experience with fan clutch problems so I was wondering if that was normal. I also have no problems with my powersteering so that pulley isn't giving me trouble.
So my questions are.
1. Is the clicking noises normal when I turn the fan?
2. How tight should that belt really be on there?

your fan clutch is seized/broken
when mine went real bad it made weird click noises too. the viscous fluid had all come out and made a mess.
belt trying to spin a locked fan to 5000 rpms = belt slippage
replace your fan clutch

So what you are saying is that even if my fan clutch is shot i can still spin it freely but when it gets to high rpms that's when it locks up? Or just can't keep up?
It's not a whole lot of clicking its like a few clicks per turn cycle when I turn it by hand.
But now that I think of it. I've noticed that when I let my car warm up to "normal operating temperature" I can usually hear the fan like doing the Ford Explorer fan noise when they move. And my last 2 s13s never did that and I don't think i noticed this one doing it when I first got it. So does that mean it's on its way out?

yo a tard, weaksauce homes, dat shit dut stuped. no reason to be hatin on fan clutches, if it aint seized it aint gonna ad any roational mass to da motor. So long as it be shrouded, it jut as good as an electric fan.
