Yo. I drive a 1992 s13 and every time i turn the car on, it screams for a couple seconds, but then it stops. It used to squeal whenever i revved it and i think the clutch fan used to be frozen. I took it touge the other night and now all is good... weird. But it still squeals when it's cold. Any ideas?

1. it's the general chat section

2. come on, who the hell doesn't know what a screaming belt means?

tighten the belt or replace it.

come on who knows how to properly spell "sence"

you have three options since, cents, or sense

go to your local autoparts store and try some serpentine belt conditioning grease or spray (although we don't have serpentine belts, it's teh same shite). read the directions on the bottle/package.

i had this problem when i first bought my car back in the day

front main seal was leaking oil, dripping shit onto the belts. the belts would squeal on start up until the oil burned off

I have this problem on my S14, but I have hairline cracks throughout the ribs of the belt. If you look closesly in the light you can see it, if you have the same you need a new belt.

I want the 60 seconds of my life back for reading this thread. And the 2 mins for having to type this post. you=fail

A squealing belt needs to be tightened or replaced. If it's cracked replace, don't tighten....that'll just cause it to break sooner.

Hopefully you don't drive yourself off a cliff while "touge" racing before you get this fixed.

Call me crazy but I would want to have my car is good running condition before I start pushing it to the limit. But hey, to each his own.

Oh and this belongs in the tech thread.

It is either a loose belt or it can be your alternator going out. One or the other.
