hey fellas,

my brothers battery in his chuki hatch is always losing its charge and ive taken it to my mechanic and he cannot find any electrical short. any ideas? he has a brand new NRG 11.5 battery. do i need to put in a bigger battery with more cranking amps? i know his right pop up headlamp motor needs to be replaced, i have checked alot of grounds, had the starter rebuilt, and ive also been told the key ignition solenoid might cause the issue as well. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah this battery thing is killing me too. Gone through 3 different types of batteries with all kinds of tests done to check for shorts. Anyone with any tips to share on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks bro, i figure its a bad ground or somethin. i have a lot more digging around the engine bay to do. its the 3rd battery so far. as soon as i charge it completely and put it in. its starts no problem. then couple days later it has trouble. if i figure out anything ill let you know.

i would say that if ur runing a sr20 12volt, check ground, or at least test the Alternator make sure that its working right.

-get multimeter and check alternator
-also always good to replace terminal connection if corroded badly.

thanks for the feedback fellas, ill have the alternator checked out this weekend, and i think ill replace the terminals as well just to see if it makes a difference. i had the alternator on the sr tested a while back and it was fine, but ill recheck it again.

i had a similar problem to what your are having is the alternator charging if not check your charging system wires i had a nicked wire and the same thing happened after 4 alternators lol stupid advanced auto they can't test for shit lol oh well good luck!

If it is not your alternator and you cannot find the ground, just add extra grounds everywhere like sun/hks/watever grounding kit. If that does not fix it, then it really something else.

thanks bro, im going to have the alternator tested again this weekend, and probably have them replace the battery cables and terminals. the wires were sorta ugly when my brother got the car. there were a few cut wires that i soldered back together and i installed the HKS circle earth ground kit for additional ground as well. thanks again fellas for all the great feedback. + rep points to all you
