I picked up an S15 VLSD and axles for cheap and have been wanting to replace my welded diff for a couple of months now…
I didn’t like the idea of stressing the drivetrain while maneuvering the car around slowly as well as I know it isn’t optimal traction for a road course car… I never got a chance to take it to a drift event but it sure did donuts very easily with just a stock KA…
The S15 LSD I have is supposedly from a non Spec R S15 making it a viscous LSD as opposed to the Spec R/Autech S15s that have helical LSDs…
The final drive is supposed to be a 3.90 making it the same as a J30 VLSD…
First step was pulling out the old diff and axles… I put the car on all 4 jackstands and I used a large jack to lower the diff from the subframe…

And here is the stock S13 diff and axles next to the S15 diff and axles… The S15 parts are the cleaner ones…
A couple things that I noticed about the S15 diff were:..
1. It is slightly longer and I’m hoping my stock S13 driveshaft will still work…
2. It has a speed sensor that won’t be used (If I have an S15 cluster, can I use it?... anyone know?)…
3. The front diff mounting points are different and I’ll need to pick up the bushings and bolts from an S14… I am going to get this from the dealer, it can’t be that expensive…
4. The driver side axle is a little bit shorter

I already pushed the axles into place and once I get the parts from the dealership, I’ll get this all bolted in…
