ok i was surfing craigslist like i always do... and i found this-
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/416489551.html shift knob for 120/ he says he bought it for 250. sure its nismo but come the fuck on.
http://images.craigslist.org/0101030103120104002007090704a4a8cb8fcc7b523f0092be .jpg
have you ever bought a shift knob for 250 or even 120 or know anyone who has???
i mean seriously. im sorry if you have, and i really dont mean to come off as an ass, but it just AMAZES me. sure the shift knob looks real nice and looks like it would feel good in your hand. but $250????? ITS A SHIFT KNOB
:loco: :tweak: :ugh: :keke:

I'm sure the fact that it's titanium, nismo, and most likely was purchased from a Nissan dealer, it may have cost 250$ retail. Or maybe he's just trying to hype the sale.
Farzam

$250 but it comes with 2 free $100 bills?
Iunno.
He's either lying or he got mad ripped off. A titanium GT shift knob you can get for like 150 from the dealer. Even cheaper in japan.

ive always had the stock shift knob, until one day while i was in the junkyard....

edit. oh im sorry, i also had a miata shift knob in my mazda truck (nice leather miata knob. and also had a dice in there for a little bit before i got the miata knob HAHA)
yeah you can get the nismo Ti knobs for hundred bucks all day long

No
We make out own knobs
Our knobs are larger than ARC
We have two versions
46mm
50mm
And yes, as of recently all knobs have A Spec laser etched into them (the knob on my car was one of the first ones we made, so no logo)

Correct, God decided when he created the earth that metals would get hot while in the direct path of the sun
When I used to daily my car with this knob, I would just unscrew it when parked and put in my center console out of the sun
This would do two things:
Keep the knob cool
Keep the haters from stealing my shit

Stop complaining about expensive items.
If you complain, you can't afford them.
It's called savings or prioritizing.
No, it won't make your car faster, but it will help you shift quicker (sometimes) and make it a non-run-of-the-mill 240.

Weighing in at 1 pound 4 ounces(568 grams), the NextGear HeavyWeight Shift Knob is weighted for an easier more precise shift. The threaded shift knobs work great with both the OEM shifters or aftermarket short throw shifters and are available only in solid stainless steel. They Cost $70 and i think they look good as hell.

see the ways that some of you guys are talking about the prices on the shift knob shows exactly how much you know about shift knobs , first off , a real titanium item isnt cheap and dont try to say it is then show us a ebay item , just because in the description it says titanium , it is , and then they shift knobs that are expensive is because they look good , they are balanced , that are made for certain specs. not just glued together like some ,, these are high quality materials specifically grafted for your car , just because its a shift knob doesnt mean its a cheap item and you dont need a better one , sure you can have the same one but its a driver choice i personaly will buy the arc shift knob because of the material and the fact that is a true ball , no not the fake pool ball ones there bigger , and no one ever said that there gain performance but its the feel of it that gives you comfort or helps you shift which is why weighted shift knobs where created , or why theres different designs , take the pool ball one ok so you buy it for 20 bucks but its you end up scratching it , you will feel that sratch every time you shift , no realistically how often are you going to be able to scratch you 100 titanium one

ive had a rolling rock beer tap for almost a year now. i bought it so i can make a shift knob...but i need to make it fit with a new coupling nut or something. can someone else?
ayuaddict
09-10-2007, 05:03 AM
is it the one with the threading on the outside of the mounting deal?
in that case i figure you could just get a spacer section of decently thick round tubing, and weld two nuts to either end, one 12x1.5 and the other to accommodate whatever the threading is on your beer tap.
it seems simple enough...a trip to the hardware store and a afternoon project kind of thing.

They'd probably break but i'll sport em.
I already have a Budweiser one that I plan on using. I just have to be not lazy and put it on.
I have other things to do to the car first, because sadly, I prioritize the stupid things I do.

I hate shift knobs in the shape of a ball... There's nothing to grab onto when I need to shift.. Instead I got this annoying monstracity of a shape sitting there waiting to harass my hand as I try to grab hold and move to the next gear...

hahaha this thread is gettin big. shows just how much zilvia loves their shift knobs hahahaha
reading all the posts... my idea is to get one of those mini liquor bottles you find at the liquor store for like a dollar or 2, drink its contents ofcourse, and then flip it upside down for a sick ass shift knob. only problem is getting it to work. maybe you could fill it with epoxy or something? that way it would never break but would probly be mo heavy. also how would u get the threads in there... idk
I personally have B&M one that cost me 10bux. Heavy, easy to shift - no complaints.
My buddy had a couple of shiftknobs made out of some sort of epoxy (think bubble knobs), played around with putting stuff in them for my buddies. everyone loved it, but they were a little small for my huge hands.

Using hollow glass may not be the best idea for a shift knob.

is it the one with the threading on the outside of the mounting deal?
in that case i figure you could just get a spacer section of decently thick round tubing, and weld two nuts to either end, one 12x1.5 and the other to accommodate whatever the threading is on your beer tap.
it seems simple enough...a trip to the hardware store and a afternoon project kind of thing.
tried the whole epoxy the nut to the bottom of the tap thing..didnt work ha.
here's pictures of what my tap looks like.
tap is like 6"

how the threading looks from the bottom.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/drewdabuilder/tap1.jpg
the white piece inside is basically the threading molded into the plastic. it has teeth around it also.

Logan, titanium gold fish knob, please. The aluminum one I have is plain-jane. I'll buy 1, haha. Get on it.
We thought about it
But its just a waste of titanium at that point
Well not a waste but it just uses more titanium than we'd like (and then the price would change, so you wouldn't like it)
Ball shift knobs rule (while driving for real, not daily)
I don't like pole styles
The beer tap style has been done time and time again in S chassis, I forget who though
I think it'd be cool for like a day or two, but then when you get hassled by the cops for car stuff and they see that thing sitting in your shifter it might not give them the best impression (although maybe some cops might call it cool)
Using hollow glass may not be the best idea for a shift knob.
Anything glass for a shift knob would be a bad idea
Much less a hollow glass bottle

Waste of titanium? Come on, you guys make the titanium bulb shift knob. That's a waste, and it's similar to the ARC, just burnt. If you make the titanium burnt gold fish, it would be just as much a waste as the bulb. But, no one makes titanium gold fish or butt plug styles. You'd be the first. Nismo has some light hard-plastic butt plug thing, but it's just white or black, boring. You guys have the aluminum one, which is nicely weighted, but boring silver or black. Do it Logan. Price doesn't matter to me, I want it, haha. I buy stuff from you I don't even use. I'll keep buggin you until it happens.

I've seen outrageously expensive shift knobs. Didn't Esprit make like a $300 shift knob for awhile?
The stuff for Euro cars can be out of hand, from companies like Mansory and Arden. $1,000 for a shift knob, $4,000 for a bumper, $25k for brakes, etc...
I don't see the point though, especially not in an S-chassis. I'm unusually picky about shift knobs as I like a very lightweight one to somewhat counteract the additional notchiness of a short-throw setup.

Depending on your area, sometimes the shipping might be weird
I would always recommend ordering through me versus the website
More personal service (I don't handle web orders) and I can always give a better price

The Project Mu knobs are nice too.
Have you used one or read any actual reviews anywhere? I currently have a Nismo "dildo" knob, and I'm thinking about switching to either a Mu (not sure wtf the torque tension does or how much it weighs), or a Greddy counter weighted, or perhaps a TWM knob (they weigh just over a pound!). How much do the Aspec ones weigh?
Any thoughts on weighted knobs?

Yes, the allen wrench that comes with the knob is meant to adjust the inside set screw, which adjusts how much thread you can get into the knob (which in turn aligns the A Spec logo)
Also, for those that own the A Spec "Goldfish" knob, it is dual threaded, so you need to remove the top set screw (which is for 12x1.25) to access the threads above, which are 10x1.25

Yeah, I never ever tried those Duracon knobs (like the Tomei) but it would have been helpful on really hot days when I used to daily my car
In my daily beater I have a plastic bubble knob, which doesn't keep heat, which is nice
But when I used to daily my car with the titanium knob, I'd typically just unscrew it and put in the glove, or center console, which did two things 1) kept it cool + 2) kept it from gettin jacked!
