Parking lights keep flickering.

When I turn the ignition to the acc the parking lights start flickering really fast and they are really dim. The relay is clicking. But it's not the relay, it's just being effected through something. We swapped the relay and it still flickers. Even with the relay out it still has the problem.

i believe you have a bad ground to your relay, check for shorts

Lol finally a reply. Yes there are probably six wires that are shot. All the switches and relays are fine. The problem is locating which damn wires have been shorted out. If anyone can give me a hand on this I'd be very appreciative on their behalf.

Yeah you've got a bad ground or shorted out power/ground wires. The left/right blinker relay and the 'hazards' relay are separate, but I think both are under the dash on the drivers side.

I'd pull the plastic piece down there, turn on your blinkers, and follow the sound with your fingers - you should be able to feel which relay is clicking. Pull it to make sure (if you pull it and the blinkers dont work, you found the right one).

Then its just a matter of separating the wires coming out of that relay cluster and figuring out where they're messed up. Not a whole lot of fun, but there's really no easier way around it :/

you can check for common ground to see which wires are grounding out to the chassis, than determine which are supposed to be ground, and etc

dudes..... we have some problems here folks, let me take a hit and 'splain...


for of all, i dont think its ground related. why? because something changes when his ignition goes from OFF to ACC. this is positive related, not negative.

if the lights are fine when the ignition is set to OFF, then the ground is fine. I have a few thoughts...

i would suggest checking your wiring harness for damage - and i mean the entire harness, give it a quick overlook.

typically, the combination switches get old and worn after all these years.. that should be replaced. but in this situation, i dont think that is it.. since the ignition seems to have an effect.

check the battery, make sure its charged and has sufficient amperage - plus good conductivity on ground and power. a weak connection could cause weird problems like this.
