I have the short shifter installed already. My question is: Is the shifter supposed to rotate? I was putting back my shift knob, and when it threaded in all the way, I noticed that the shifter started to rotate along with the knob. Is it supposed to be like that? I thought that the bush socket kept the shifter in place. Am I wrong, or did I install it wrong? And does anyone know what gasket I can use for it, as mine didn't come with one, the circular one that goes over the bush socket. Thanks.
For reference, the pilot short shift instructions: http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/short_shifter/pmsshift.jpg

Mine does the exact same thing. I have no clue how to fix it. It didn't use to do that before now its just annoying to have to shift without it rotating the shift knob.

Mines did the same thing, it's because I was missing a piece. It was so long ago, that I don't remember what piece it was.

Took a look at the shifter today, and it looks like it's actually two pieces. The the top part of the shifter just pops out, looks like it's held in with this hard ass plastic that goes over the bottom part. Oh well, I just can't use my angled shifter extension anymore.

Sounds like a replica C's shifter. I have a real C's and it's all one piece. The Pilots, and OBXs etc were two pieces and they had problems spinning.

The old C's are two pieces, the weird part is that they aren't even threaded together.
Do what I did.
JB Weld the two halves together.

I'm sure mine isn't a copy, unless someone has some explainin to do huh NervGS? hahah. Yea it should be legit. I'll try the JB weld, seems easier than what I was planning. Ey since you guys have the shifter, does it rattle? I've never heard of the C's shifter rattling. Of course, I am missing the gasket that it's supposed to come with. What can I use in place of that gasket, obviously another gasket, but what about using a liquid type gasket?

mine doesn't rattle maybe your shifter collars aren't tightned down.

I don't think I can tighten my collars up anymore, so they are on there pretty good. It has to be the gasket that's missing. Can anyone with the shifter tell me how thick the gasket was? I'm just gonna try the auto store, see if they carry a gasket similar in shape and size.

My ebay short shifter did the same thing. It didn't come with the the spacer. (metal ring that went right under the plate to keep it pushed down.) So I could pull up a little and make it turn.
