in about a weeks time were going to be swapping out my blown singlecam for an dual cam from an s14. ive searched but all i can find are sr threads.

list of what we have:
complete manual s14 ka
harness and ecu from a 91 s13

what else am i going to need for a successful swap. my buddy has experience swapping sr's i just wanted to make sure i had everything ahead of time. any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

of course, a DOHC gauge cluster.. sohc gauge wont work (speedo will, but RPM wont i think?)

someone page r240na to the thread

what year is the s14 ka from? my personal experience is 97 into a 95, so i can't be sure, but my guess is certain sensors / harness plugs on the intake manifold will not plug up correctly. to make it real simple you may want to get a complete intake manifold from a dohc s13. bolt it onto the s14 longblock; done and done.

i believe you need the s13 distributor as well; i *think* they are different from s14 distributors. hopefully someone can confirm it or correct me.

is it a obd1 or 2?

you'll need tach, throttle and cruise cables, harness, ecu, coil, etc

it really has been covered many times

Yes the distributors are different, you will need the s13 one. I have a 98 DOHC in my 90 fastback with 91 harness ecu and sensors and manifold.

but for some reason my engine kinda bogs and cuts out on power sometimes when im WOT. could this be engine timing possibly?

help from premies plz ^_^

i have a question how can you make it work using a s14 harness and ecu? really need to know.

set timing if you haven't. but from my experience bad timing doesn't cause the problems you describe. bad timing = car idles like shit or not at all, no power at all, car runs like absolute ass.

for your problem, i'd start by making sure everything is plugged in nice and tight. sounds simple, but a few weeks ago we were stumped on a ka swap running on 3 cylinders. cause? fuel injector plug wasn't fully plugged in. lol. maybe something is loose, creating intermittent connection

i have a question how can you make it work using a s14 harness and ecu? really need to know.

iirc r240na just answered a similar question a week or two ago. kid was trying to put a s13 harness, s13 ecu, s13 ka into a 98. r240na basically said no on the harness/ecu, at least not without rewiring. im willing to bet s14 harness/ecu into a 89 will suffer similar problems.

OK so the S14 DOHC is different, but what about someone like myself. I have a 1991 DOHC going into a 1989 car.

I got the harness and ECU and engine.
Do I need different throttle and cruise cables?

naw ur all good.
list:
power steering hardlines.
dizzy.
speed sensor from s13, s14 doesnt plug.
i think ac lines might be different. not shure how that works.
harness from s13 and bottom intake mani top works and its better you get rid of 2nd butterflys.
i think thats about it.
and i think maf.

and for the problem with accelaration
i had the same prob wen i did s14 obd1 into my s13.
i fixed it by puttin more grounds and new pump and fuel fillter.
not shure which one did it but i think its more the fuel prob haha.

u want complete list here it is ( since i did this)

ur gonna need the following parts from an S13 DOHC:
throttle cable
Headers ( with EGR pipe if ur planin to stay legal)
distributer
alternator
power steering pump and lower lines...and reservoir...basically the whole assemlbly that connect to ur rack
temp sensor (the red plug sensor on manifold)
throttle body w/ TPS (if ur going MT make sure u get the TPS that has only a single plug) picture provide if u need it
Intake plastic pipe
harness (must be MT if ur going MT and vice versa)
ECU (MT or AT doesnt matter...keep in mind AT no...rev limiter i believe...)
Cluster (dohc cluster from s13)
as far as AC since ur running an s14 (assuming OBD2) R134 type pump....all u need is a custom hose that leads to fire wall... or u could just switch it over to an S13 pump and ur good to go with lines and all
MAF
Coil
coil braket with starter module on it...

in 2 weeks time bro im dropping my s14 engine and getting my CA

so if u need parts ill have it for sure lol

as far as tranny goes ur ok with any model...cept remember that the CAS on OBDII tranny's are on the tranny bell housing... no big since u wont have a plug for it so ignor it

any questions lemme know...
