I'm getting tired of exhuast manifold problems, holes in my pipes, the scraping noise's, well....I dont mind so much. My exhuast doesnt seem like its not touching the ground.

What exhaust systems besides something like a dart izuma straight pipes are there that give you maxium clearance?

List some and post pics if you gots. If its full titanium, better! Im in the market for a Ti system. System must have a muffler.

get custom hangers, bigger wheels

Just go custom.

My exhaust may not look the best at the rear, but it's full 3" piping and it's tucked tight most of the way. My car isn't super slammed, but I think my frame rails and tranny cross member have taken more hits then my piping.

Just go custom.

Ditto.

If you want titanium that can be done custom as well

Just gotta find the right place

Also keep in mind your downpipe might be the reason it hangs lower than you want....go custom on the downpipe or have yours shortened

use the oval tubing, or if you want to stick with the conventional round tubing, cut your downpipe and reweld it so that it tucks right up again the body and then cut and weld your hangers to accomodate.

just go custom man, 3" dual straight pipes. most shops can do this pretty cheaply depending on the quality. dart izumi style for you

Yeah was kinda looking for the 8lbs pound exhuast system heha.... I got the circuit sports oval downpipe. Custom Ti would be large $$$...and hard to find a good place to do something like that.

The resonator section of my HKS hi-power sits pretty low.. I wonder if it's just the way I have it bolted on. I used the original hangers, although some parts of the exhaust has threads instead of hooks?

I can't think of any Ti systems that have great clearance by design, I think your best bet honestly would be custom SS

i was going to suggest oval tubing.....aside from the CS downpipe i don't think i've seen it anywhere though

i have also heard that the way you rotate the exhaust pre-tightening the bolts helps you adjust where it sits.
i have a buddyclub spec-II and it sits very nicely, only problem i have is the downpipe/cat scrapes soemtimes.

yeah iv heard buddy club systems have great clearance... but not sure if its fact.

MAN, that is the worst clearance I've ever seen.

My exhaust hangs low because it has a FATTY resonator.

Fix for it, take the exhaust to muffler shop, cut out the resonator and the flange and weld straight pipes. Thats what I had to do with my old S14. You know your too low when your changing lane on I80 and the exhaust flange is hitting the orange reflectors. :duh:

Another exhaust that i know got pretty good clearance are the GP Sports Exhaust. Close and tucked to the body...

Naw, I like it being quiet.

May hard to believe but when I chopped the resonator, my exhaust actually seem to quiet down a bit than with it on. Then again, the resonator was shaped like a D and internally fubared...:rawk:

stiffer exhaust hangers and a shitload of zipties help a bit with clearence issues.

That's an immediate solution if so needed.

I have an Invidia N1 catback, and it's ground clearance is shitty, almost as bad as the Blitz Nur spec pics... With hose clamps around new hangers I've managed to get the clearance at the lowest spot to about 2 1/2 inches and I can still lower my car at least 1.5 inches on my coilovers. So that would leave me with only an inch, likely less, of clearence.

seriously, if you have scraping problems, I would NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT get a titanium exhaust.
The piping is SUPER thin. Sometimes even down to 2mm.

JVD
09-06-2007, 11:04 AM
I've got an exhaust for you. Super good clearance. My car is as low as yours and the only thing that ever scrapes is the canister going down steep parking lot exits. 3.5" all the way through. I would just put a new muffler cuz mine is like D shaped. If I don't sell I'm prob just gonna get one of those ASpec mufflers put on. Let me know if you're interested. I'm in Edmonton.

Oh, also. All of my rubber hangers have zipties around them to pull the exhaust up even higher. Works pretty good.

I've yet to find the need for a Titanium exhaust on a street car...I could never bring myself to paying that price, even dispite how much less it weighs....

order a muffler from logan at Aspec and have your exhaust custom bent, best of both worlds.

Trust DD*** or greddy DD has the best ground clearance. The way the pipe splits makes it have the best clearance on the market. BUT its discontinued, you can still find them.

CKAMC

Get the JIC, I believe GP Sports has discontinued that one your looking for. Also the JIC is extremely cheap, so if something does happen you wont feel that bad compared to how much the amuse runs in price

now that brian said that... unsure now... its not so much the price, its just putting a hole in it the first day i get it. I just want my car lower tooo....ugh I hate straight pipes!!!

I thought with Titanium you could use less of the material because its structure in mineral base's allows you to do so(its a strong, light weight alloy mix).

Example some manufactures when they make.... ohh a strut bar (example) they compensate the fact the material isn't as strong as its steel version so they make it thicker(use more material) to compensate this.

I am no expert but its just something that came to my mind.....

Kuzumi
09-07-2007, 11:02 AM
^ agree. titanium is a stronger alloy so less of it can be made.
also remember that you probably need to have your hangers custom mounted if you are keeping an old exhaust that you want to fit better.

this exhaust has terrible clearance
how do i know? i have one

my car is slightly tucking tire, not low at all
s14 lowered on coilovers
225/45/17F 245/40/17R

with 10 year old rubber exhaust hangers, the muffler is tucked super tight against the rear bumper. its not the canister that is the problem

the resonator hangs about 1.5 - 2" off the ground max, with my car at this relatively tall height. if i was slammed i'd be dragging it on the ground.
scrapes there and on a flange. if you wanted to slam it you'd have to rip both those off and get it welded together.
and you can't raise it at all, because if you do one of the flanges rubs on the driveshaft where it bolts to the diff.

Z33dori
09-07-2007, 11:54 AM
i guess it fits diff on S14......h/o ill go take a pic of it.

yea my cat sits way lower than my resonator, i cant measure it but ya its low but i dont scrap much but my cat.

ill try to get pics up later today too, but mine is very different off the top of my head. the resonator on mine extends quite a bit lower than the piping. which is why it scrapes ugh

wow 53.45 per foot for 3" is kinda steep...

at summit its 3.49 per foot, sold in 4 feet sections for 13.95 for 3" aluminized steel exhaust tubing.

and 17.60 per foot for 3" stainless steel made by borla in 5 foot sections.

maybe welding the hangars to tuck the exhaust super high would be more cost effective, because the oval tubing is still 2 1/8 inches in height.

i dont know about you but 7/8 inch of extra clearance does not justify +$40~ per foot for me. if the current one gets too banged up just replace that section.
