Post pics of some of your favorite art. Either your own or some you just like.
I know there's a lot of artistic people on here that can appreciate some good art.
Anything goes except for NWS stuff obviously. Also no photo's. We have plenty of threads for that. Maybe photo's drasticly altered in Photoshop are OK, but I don't want to see your 240 with a "Find Edges" filter posted in here.
I'll start it off with some wonderful art I found of my favorite heroine.

Car related is just fine. But like I said, i don't want to see a pic of a 240 with just some basic shit done to it in PS. Stuff like cell shaded cars, or original digital car designs or whatever is welcome.
Man that second to last one is cool. It feels so gloomy and hi-tech. Like the hi-tech is the reason for the mood.

Banksy is fuckin awesome, no doubt about it. There are few other people who play with perception and catalyze social dialogue as he does.
On of my favorites.

One of my other favorites is Escher, particularly his graphic geometric based art work. Having been to Spain and seen the Alhambra and other Moorish geometric art, I really admire what he is paying tribute to and the humor apparent in his pieces of art.

he didn't do anything clever. he painted policemen making out and the queen sitting on some hooker's face. those aren't statements, they're just there for shock value, and then some doofus interpreted them as something else. and then some painting of an AT-AT got mistaken as a banksy pic, and the internet found out about him. the end.

Same shit can be said with Shepherd Fairley if you want to talk about mainstream appeal...along with a gang of other famous new age "urban" artists
I never really saw all of Banksy's work until I read through his book
But I think any art that inspires or creates change in thought in another human being is good art
So to say he didn't do anything clever is quite the understatement

well, you're right. i will say his work on the Israel wall was extremely ballsy and impressive. but for the most part, most of his little work, all that, it's just this kind of "in your face" childish nonsense that isn't creative. it's just offensive. and that gets people off on the internet, it seems.
to be less of a negative nancy, though. Jim Lee is a god. to be more obvious, Frank Miller is pretty amazing. you may have heard of Sin City or 300 :P Eduardo Risso- 100 bullets may be a bit hackish at times, but if you go back to the first 20 issues or so, it's really something. and you can't talk about comic art (on an import board, at least!) without mentioning Katsuhiro Otomo. the Akira manga is some of the best drawn and written i've ever seen.
fine art... well, i don't know much about all that. i know i like Andy Warhol. but who doesn't fucking like Andy Warhol.

First off, Jim Lee is my most favorite artist of all time. I remember BITD when it was him and McFarlane as #1 and #2 in Wizard for best artist. I was always mad that Jim was #2. Not to take anything away from Tood, but Jim was my fav.
Here's one of my favorite sketches he did.

not finished yet. It was inspired by those biker bandanas that have a skull printed on them. I know you've seen the gusy who ride their bikes with those over their face. This is just the opposite with my face on it instead. I'll post the pic of me later and let you guys compare the 2.

here's something I had to get down on paper after work today before I forgot about it. Thinking about using it for a tattoo
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/byggbamaboy1626/skullbandaname.jpg
That looks like Kanye West
Bandanas over the face is a fashion style that boggles me
It was cool for a minute but now its ridiculous
Unless you wiping sweat off your head or blowing your nose (or if you are going to rob me)
Don't be rockin no bandana over your face

You guys are good... I wish I had some artistic talent... I'm fairly good a tagging tho... I used to do it from like 7th-11th... Then I kind of stopped doing it (in notebooks and whatnot) and just started doing it again... I love those sidewalk chalk things tho... They look uber realistic

Brendan Monroe's (http://www.brendanmonroe.com) work is a trip... He paints humans interacting with blobs and blobs that seem to have their own personality and emotive characteristics. I have only seen them online, but I bet they are magnificent in person...

Artist Twenty-7's work is far more detailed than most boxcar artists... his style is immediately recognizable and deliciously colorful and thematic. His Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/

here are a few of my favorite pieces of his art followed by some of his great shots of life on the rail... enjoy!

That is so rad! What's your backround?
2 yrs in college in digital multimedia tech, consisting of web, flash, design, video, motion graphics, traditional art, traditional animation and finally, 3d animation
Took the optional 3rd year consisting completely of 3d production.
Before college I took a couple multimedia classes that introduced me to photoshop and 3d studio max. Good thing too, otherwise I would enrolled in the less awesome computer science program.

And light drawing/ light grafitti I did awhile back.
We were just camping and having fun. My GF daughter. her uncle walked through the background, hence the light streek. But i dont like to cheat, so no CS2 to take it out.

Here's some stuff I did back in the day. I admit, it's nothing really special. Just some basic stuff done in Photoshop.
I'm too lazy to upload any of my drawings. I draw mostly cars, planes, boats, and various characters of my own creation...I suck at drawing landscapes and stuff. I have this cool film noir style painting I did that I'm kinda proud (considering I kinda suck at painting...stupid unsteady hand) of but unfortunately it's too large to scan.
Anyways here's some pics...don't mind the RSR Image thing.
Logo I did for a contest...I didn't win. Oh well.

I learned the basics of PS in college but any advanced stuff I learned on my own. A good way to learn is to just do tutorials. Do a ton. Some of them will assume you know certain things though. But yeah, tutorials up the ass.

Yes, shortcuts are important when you get into advanced stuff. but when you are learning the shortcuts...are just shortcuts. They don't make things any easier to do.
I've been working in PS for years but only over the last 2 years or so have I really been focused on learning all the shortcuts. Most are second nature to me now though.

So then I have a question for these ps users...I have cs4...the whole thing...illustrator...etc..i don't know all the programs... Can anyone tell me the easiest way to scan a black and white image, put it on photoshop and color it...without disturbing the black lines on the page. I basically want to make a comic book...and color it on ps.

look at blogs through out the day on street art and things too.

you like camera stuff, paining , digital, building?
there are so many things that make art.
As long as your being creative!

I'm bringing this shit back from the dead. So some of my work, which I'm actually open for commission if anyone is interested. lots of faces, its what I'm asked to do most of the time, cars and everything else are no prob though. tattoos, logos, origional, old, potraits, name it. shoot me a pm.
done in 2005 after drawing for year or so. i stopped doing pieces like this for my personal pleasure. the skill has multiplied over the 6 years, just gives ya an idea.
24x30 if i remember right. pencil on paper.

mmmm...i remember having some super raw fingers from this stuff. lol. none the less. fun. Did you run out of chalk? or did you start the background and then work on the smaller pieces?
also...how long did this take you? and was this by yourself?
edit: i just noticed that you are side by side with other artist. How irritating (having to be confined to just the space you can lay chalk).

yeah the first one is missing quite a bit, the person who commissioned it wanted to keep it like that, works for me.
haha no fingerprints for like 2 weeks every time. This one took me a while, 52 hours I think. I started the background and ended up running out of time. Didn't have a chance to go back. Done all my self, and yeah, its a pain having other peoples work so close.

yeah...it's always nice having clients enjoy what you would think is a 90% complete piece of art cause they like the roughness of it. lol.
Yeah man....I would love to do murals all day...but the cement heat, as well as the raw fingers for a week....no bueno. Wish I had pictures of my last mural we did. A group highschool art project...17x10 feet mural of libya. Pretty rad. it was in the middle of the school and people walked around it for two months. Damn wish I had pictures...it was cool.

Well, this hasnt been up in a while, so I figured i might as well post some of my own stuff
The majority of what you see is normal Bic pen, and acrylic paint ( if its color )
India ink and sharpie. Youll also notice a lot of them arent finished. I tend to start a new one without finishing, coming back and working on it later.
My biggest influences are artists such as:
John Dyer Baizely
Alex Pardee
Alfonse Mucha
Takato Yamamoto and a few others

Nope, I havent been in an art class since high school.
This is just stuff i do in my spare time.
I will be going to school for medical illustration, so i have to have a very strong portfolio. This just helps me build it.
Im not a big fan of pencil. My lines are really thin and consistent, with a pencil every line is different since it gets duller. Even with mechanical

I always have a sketchbook around. I usually draw industrial design stuff, or ideas, but its not all that detailed.
Started using photoshop back like 15 years ago, and pretty much all I do is take pictures and play with contrast a little. No time anymore.... gotta pay the mortgage, and unfortunately, selling art doesn't cover my $2000/mo expenses.

and the silver?
still a creepy looking drawing. but cool.
also, there is a trick to drawing hair, seperate the strands, and look at it like they are large geometric shapes, then draw all the fine detail. It looks as if her hair comes from small sections of her head.

Yeah if you look at my other work i always separate the hair, i tried something new this time, ended up hating it.
I forgot to say i used a white gel pen for some of the highlights.

Oh well.

Here is a link to his comic book's FB page (Welcome To Ralton) It is about a slacker superhero that was mentored by the devil, and kinda shines light on how his activities affect his family... Pretty cool stuff.

^nice.
I don't do the ink work, but I designed this for my friends Dad. To commemorate his mother that past away, so that's her signature up top.

Lukasss, your stuff it pure badassery. You actually inspired me to use pen for the first time and I'm loving it. I really wish my photobucket or any photo sharing website there is would work for me on this damn windows xp I've gotta use at work. I actually did one of yours mixed with a half skull for my first try. I'm addicted to drawing anything with hair now lol.
