Well first off im new to zilvia.net right now im selling my modded audi a4 and thinking of picking up a 96 240 from one of my friends for only 1,500. the bad part is that its auto and still the stock engine :( so i was looking into buying the rb26dett set up and dropping it into the 240. but i didnt know if it was a direct fit or if it took alot of modding. and how hard of a swap is it. and any other suggestions for motor swaps besides the sr cuz id rather throw something in there with more power. if anyone could help me out that would be awesome!

Thanks,
pat

alright, first welcome to zilvia.

2nd, use the search button in between the quick links and new post buttons. if you ask these questions without searching... god help you. you will get your @$$ handed to you. Y? u ask? because this question has been answered a million times and people get sick of them.

3rd, its cheap. get ti. being stock and an auto is not something you can't change.

4th, the rb26 setup is not cheap. lots of modding so lots of $$$$ hope you got that kinda dough. especially if you can't do it yourself.

5th, you can make a lot of power with the sr if you build it right.

6th, ask your self " what is my goal for the car?" answer that and you might find that you can even go the ka-t route.

peace

o btw to stay on topic http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/products

have fun!

Basicly everone covered it. It is a very expensive set up. I am doing a RB25 set up in my S13 right now and ill be the first to tell you its very expensive. So if your on budget go KA-T or SR...

Dont expect to be spoonfed here on Zilvia, this is pretty much the last place on earth that would happen. Especially on a topic that has been covered sooooo many times already.

RB26= 10K for the swap (has been done for about 8K) little fab
RB25= 5K for the swap (has been done for about 4K) no fab
LS1= 10K for the swap (has been done for 8K) and LOTS of custom fab.
SR20= can't say haven't researched it all out, no fab, I have heard it runs about the same as a SR with comparable bolt ons (FPR, one piece driveshaft, new radiator, fans and FMIC)
VG= don't do it
VQ=Look into it,a viable option but still new to the scene.

money is usually an issue so look at that, decide how much power and TQAA you want, and cross referance that with how much you want to spend then try again.

i would say RB25>SR for around the same price, and LS1>RB26 for about the same price, but all motors can be built with the right amount of money.

please spoon feed some to others when they ask the same question.

and actually we have a horrible RB section. go to www.racebread.com or look into nicos RB only section, it you can wade through the misinformation and childness there.

racebread for hard reliable numbers and info, nico for ideas and some parts.

yeah the RB20 and CA18 are cheap, but IMO i leave them out.

to me buying one of them is kinda like buying a VG because you diddn't want to toss out al little more $$ for the in all ways better VQ. the can be made respectable, but you better have a solid build plan when starting with one of those. those are the SSautochrome of nissan engines.:barf:

but with that being said, they do still have potential.. if you have the time money and know how.

Checkout www.sykoperformance.com The best rb25/26 swap kit on the market!!! I dare you to compare them to other kits out there. This is the kit I used with the wire service and the car runs top notch. I won't get into a price debate because it really depends if you want to half-ass or do it right. Stay tuned for the pictoral build-up of my s13 silvia rb25det monster coming very soon!

it's all good, i clearly state that it is my opinion, and that there are some good exceptions to my opinion.

i just don't see it being feasible the cost differance to build a 20 up to a 25 of a CA up to a SR's power potential. but it can be done,no doubt about it.

it may have somehting to do with people buying old beat up hatches up here and tossing a 20 or a CA into it because they are cheap bastards and leaving it stock. mainly because the shops up in OR/WA charge OUT THE ASS (IE $3000+ for a RB25 motorset) to keep people buying the cheap stuff

Dave is not the person that runs Syko performance, Gary Narusawa is the man youre looking for.
