BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Records of 911 call have revealed that Santa Monica police were responding to an "attempted suicide" when they were called to Owen Wilson's house on Sunday night, local media reports said Wednesday. The log does not indicate who made the call, but lists "attempt suicide" as the reason for the 911 call.
Wilson, a Hollywood comic actor, was found bloody and dazed after trying to commit suicide by overdosing on pills and slitting his wrist in the wake of a blow-up with a close friend, a source told the New York Post.
The actor was rushed to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica before being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he is currently recovering.
The comic's publicist, Ina Treciokas, declined to answer questions about whether Wilson attempted to committ suicide, saying Wilson's statement asking for privacy is all that is being released.
Hospital spokeswoman Cynthia Harding said Monday that Wilson was in good condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
People magazine reported on its website that his brother, actor Luke Wilson, and other family members had been seen outside Cedars Sinai.
According to DreamWorks Pictures, filming continues on "Tropic Thunder," a comedy starring Wilson and Jack Black.
It was also unknown how Wilson's appearance opposite Jennifer Aniston in the comedy "Marley & Me" would be affected. A 20th Century Fox spokesman told Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety that "it's a totally inappropriate question at this time."

I told her that it's a bad thing to do, because there's always a way out of problems, and killing yourself only hurts the people around you that care about you, because you were too selfish to think past yourself. So does Kevorkian's jail sentence make what he did wrong? There is a reason it is controversial. Just because our judicial system labeled it as bad doesn't mean that that is a definitive statement of morality.

There is more than one way to look at suicide, and just saying it's dumb blah blah blah is being short-sighted and judgmental. When will people grow up enough to understand that for some things, there is no right and wrong answer.

You know, I was riding around and remembered an important point to suicide that might make this more real to some of you

Most (never say all) suicides and attempts occur because the victim wants their pain to end, not death. The outcome that is sought is not death itself, but the pain they are feeling, in whatever way, makes death seem like the only solution to that pain. In Kevorkian's patient's case, it was physical pain and fatal chronic disease. In other more psychological cases, it is a mental pain or despair, and the only way the victim can see to stop it is to end it with suicide.


Something else to think of instead of "these people are weak, why don't they solve their own problems blah blah blah."

My daughter loves lighting Mcqueen as well.. I don't think that she knows about this.. I just bought her the game a month ago and she plays it constantly (too much actually).. She's out of town with her mother and comes back this weekend.. hopefully I don't get any questions about this. =/

I encourage my daughter playing video games, as long as they aren't too violent or gory. They teach kids a lot about hand-eye coordination, cause-and-effect, and problem solving. She's been playing since she was 2 years old. She's almost 6 now, and she passed Zelda Twilight Princess in 2 weeks on the Wii. She also got Honor Roll for all 4 quarters her kindergarten year and scored 2 student of the month awards and 3 citizenship awards. I swear she's the smartest kid i know. I attribute it to letting her be a gamer, and picking the right games for her to play.

Her father and I also allow her to read comic books for her age level, which taught her about life situations, which gave her the level of understanding for us to explain to her about suicide. Be honest with your children, guys.... It helps a lot later on when they have real questions.

I got rid of all my "violent" games.. The closest thing she sees to violence/gore is when Yoshi (her) tosses a red shell at bowser(me) for passing her in mario kart 64..

Cars (based off the movie) Pretty good at it
Mario Kart 64 - decent (usually gets 3rd of 4th)
Crash Team racing - decent
Crash Nitro Cart - decent
and GT4.. only good at Sunday cups and arcade mod
