View Full Version : Radiator Blocked Up

I think I have a block in my radiator, that moves through the radiator. My temp gauge (aftermarket) goes up...I turn on the heat or accellerate little and the temp goes down. It's like the block (possibly mineral deposit) is moving its way through my radiator.

I only use distilled water and coolant, however, the previous owner may have used tap water. This is why I believe it maybe a small mineral build up or deposit floating its way through my radiator.

Is there a way to fix this without replacing the radiator. (i.e. Would flushing in a couple of times possible fix this problem)?

Suggestion/Help - THANX!!!

Only way to find out is to take out out your rad and rattle it out. Then do a full flush.

your best bet is to buy a new radiator and fully flush the system, while your at it, change your water pump, hoses, and thermostat.

Find a place who could clean it and maybe even hot tank it.

Go to a radiator shop and ask them to clean it. They will remove the "lid", run a brush or wire through each row, and put it back together. Around here, ghetto shops will do it for 30 or 40 bucks.

is that what makes you think its a block????

Probably didn't bleed it completely and the air bubble is making your temp gauge go up.
Like Farva said - bleed the shit out of it.
