air in the lines will result in a spongy brake pedal. grinding is coming from your rotors (warped). you need new/cut rotors & probably pads as well.

no...the best description of the sound is like the sound you hear when your stomach is growling...

I would suggest trying Brake Clean first. It may be that you have accumulated some debris/residue on your pads.

If the rotors were warped, you would feel it as a vibration in the wheels. However, you should look for unusual grooves or cuts in your rotors. This could indicate that something may be wedged between your rotor and pads.

i agree here i had that problem of a piece of the old brakes clip broke and got wedged betwenn my pad and rotor and wore unevenly and dug about 1/4 inch into my rotor and both back sides of my front brkaes were bare and grinding on metal.

Sounds like a good reason to go and inspect your braking system. Pop off the pads and have a look at them. If they're getting low replace them, same with the rotors. It's probably also a good idea to change the brake fluid if you haven't already (takes more time than money, $5-10), somehow it usually gets skipped. I bought my 93 last year with 47k on it and was absolutely pampered. Had the pads changed once, but never the fluid, go figure.

ok, so how do you drain the brake fluid, can you buy a bleeding kit, also do you have to have to have the fluid like diposed or can you jsut throw it in the trash or what? what kind of replacement pads do you think i should get anyways, which are the best?

thx

As far as disposing of the fluid...use your best judgement. Replace it with Ate Super Blue or Ate Typ200 brake fluid. Both are DOT4 and superior in every respect.

Semi-metallic pads are the only way I'll ever go again. Less dust with better performance. Try Repco/Axxis/PBR metal Master pads.

Here's a FAQ (http://www.zilvia.net/f/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=13058) that should answer most if not all your questions.
