My s13 has a small hairline crack on top plastic part of radiator. Everyday after probably 10 minutes of regular daily driving my temp gauge goes all the way right to hot. IS this crack the reason for the crazy overheating? Its not the thermostat, hoses, or fan cus all that stuff still works so Im going crazy :wtc: Any tips/help???

You're asking this question, but you failed to say whether the crack was a leaking one. If it was, I think you would have mentioned that. If its not the thermostat, hoses, or fan, and not the waterpump, it may be the radiator crack. Have you tried checking to see if you have enough coolant? Also, theres a tech talk section for this stuff, and a search option, but you're new (though you registered over a year ago) so I wouldnt expect you to know any of that either.

The coolant does seep through the crack. So I always fill it up every other day or two. But why would the engine overheat sooooo fast for??! Ugggh!! Thanks for your input though.

atmospheric pressure is seeping in, when the temp is ambient and during operating temp when the pressure rises the coolant is leaking, so your trapping air, and leaking... just get a new rad

It overheats faster becasue you effectively lower the boiling point by having and leak in your raditor (your not holding as much pressure anymore) and your drawing in air when the engine cools down instead of drawing back in coolant from teh resovior just fix the problem it usually around $80 to replace 1 end tank from a radiator repair shop.

that's weird i have the same problem as you, but my car never overheats, even after hard canyon runs, i just fill it back up when im done, but i will be getting a new rad soon

go get some radiator stop leak, or
drop $80 and get a new radiator.
done.

Just get a new radiator, and if it still overheats then you should get a new thermostat and water pump.
