okay i just finished swapping in my 26mm calipers, 17/16" BMC, and rear pads as well. now the pedal is rock hard with only about 1/2" of travel, theres also a burnt smell in the wheel well. so i thought maybe the caliper is locked, so i jack up the car and spun each wheel, no resistance at all? on a gentle slope some times it will roll back some time it wont. im thinking possibly seized caliper but even with only 1/2" of travel i can slow down regularly, just unable to preform a full lock or panic stop. anything else i should check, either the caliper or BMC.

but the pedal is hard not spongy, i also bleed them correctly, bench bleed the BMC then rear pass, rear driver, front pass, then front driver.

you should check the vaccum line from the booster. your current one might have a crack or might be broken. the same thing happened to me and after i fixed it, things ran smoothly.

Funny you have that problem brother,Well not funny at all but no where near as bad as what I did. I got 90 26mm Calipers and put on 30mm rotor I'm not even going to what happened next, But that you expect some to go bad when we go after the " Holy grail of s13 brakes". I think It might Be a small problem like brake pads not matching the year that goes with that caliper? Or you could be smelling new brake pads braking in ?

you have to break that shit in
smell is normal for brandy new brakes
new pads + new rotors = no stopping power until the brakes are bedded
get up to 60mph or so and slam on the brakes to like 10mph DO NOT STOP
do it like 5 times or so and then park the car with the ebrake OFF
no bedding / improper bedding = "warped" rotors

what about the stiff pedal, i dont think its the vacuum line. cause when i step on the brake then start the car, i can feel the brake booster working.
