when looking at the s13 sr20 motor and comparing it to the s14 sr20 a larger difference i noticed is the s13 has highport injection while the s1 has lowport. im guessing on this but i figured it only has to do with where the injectors are placed on in the intake ports. i have also read that highport is better for highpower applications. naturally, i question this, and wanted to know what some of you guys out there think/know about it...

The intake ports themselves are in different places - the S13 ports are higher (hence the name).
The high port design offers a slightly straighter shot into the combustion chamber.. it's anybody's guess if it offers more power. Some comparative flow bench numbers would be great, but they're not available.
However, the S13 head seems to be the de facto standard. The high end Japanese tuners seem to use S13 heads for all their mega-horsepower cars.

Yeah the s13 are usally used more for higher hp car.Plus if you are going to buy a sr and change everything like turbo.injectors etc.....Then get a s13 cus they are a little cheaper and why spend 3400.00+extras when you can spend about 3000.00 andadd to it and have a little ectra to work with. The advantage stock for stock is that the s13 has a T25 journal bearing turbo ceramic center and is highport injection which the s14 has a T28 ball bearing and VTC"variable timing control"and lowport injection. The s13 has 205hp and the s14 has 220.
