I recommend cyberpower. you can build a good laptop with a decent processor and 4 gigs of ram for around 1400.

heres another site that my friend used to get his laptop for college.
http://www.xoticpc.com
the options there are also good.

Yeah, its totally worth it when you get into classes that use a specific program and there's no student version for mac. $80 vs. $1600
I just got a laptop on tuesday from bestbuy, $399.99 only shows on the internet. Once I upgrade the RAM and get office I'll be totally set.
Are you looking for a laptop for school? or for playing games and being super fast?

Its definately for school but Im going to need processing power for a lot of applications anyways so why not throw in a nice video card and a few bells and whistles and get something I'll enjoy for years. If I cant find anything better im ordering the Dell on saturday
oh and something is fishy with cyberpower, go look at their testimonials. I guess nobody has EVER had a complaint!

eh? there's nothing fishy to me.
i've visited their shop personally and my family has ordered 3 computers from them. their customer service is also excellent and 100% legit. their custom computers lasted longer than any of the dells i've seen.
you're better off going with brands like toshiba and hp before dell.

I'll have a second look, but you cant blame me for being apprehensive. Also im not stuck on Dell, its just the best price/performance ratio so far by a fairly large margin

I just quit my job. Im going back to school; therefor im broke. I can justify buying a $1200 laptop over a $700 one but it becomes difficult from $2-3k.

I seriously doubt that. but if it does I will most deinately check it out! does your have the T7300 processor? 800mhz FSB? 4mb process cache?
is it intel or AMD?
256mb Geforce 8600 GT?
The hardest part about finding a good laptop is two computers can look very similar spec wise.. but perform very different. I know the crap future shop/bestbuy etc,. sells is often 533/667mhz FSB with an onboard intel video card. Some come with 4200 rpm HD's then try and wow you with $10 webcams to make the sale.
