I just got my spare GT28RS turbo back from ATP. It has a brand new OEM CHRA (ball bearing section, wheels, shafts, oiling section, everything but the covers) with zero miles on it. The covers have about 2,000 miles on them.

The turbine cover has the wastegate flapper welded shut, but can be cut open by the new owner to run the internal wastegate which I am including. I didn't like the unpredictableness of the IWG, and it still bothers me on my new GT28RS kit that has an IWG. This turbo was originally part of my old GT28RSkit that used an external wastegate. Boost was much more linear and precitable on that kit.

Search the forums for GT28RS if you need info on the turbo itself, I'm sure there are TONS of threads. This is by far the most fun turbo I've ever had. Torque is brutal and instant.... lots of tire melting fun from a roll.

At any rate, these turbos sell new from Garrett at $1,200. You can't find a genuine one on ebay for less than $1,050 shipped.

I'm selling for $825 shipped (cont. US ONLY).

welding it shut leaves you the only option to run an external wastegate. as the op stated, internally wastegated turbos are "unpredicatble" so by welding the gate you can use an external wastegate to vent off exhaust gases. OP also stated you could cut it back open and run the internal wastegate which he's still including.
