i am having a rough time figuring out where this plug goes. it has about 8 wires and a small plug on it. the wires are fed through the door sill. the plug is in the kick panel area, so i am lead to believe it plugs in the ecu /blower motor area.
can anyone shed some light on this? thanks!

Pics, color of wires?

Sounds like you're by the ECU, and the harness in question drops down and runs the length of the rocker panel towards the rear of the car. If so, that's the EVAP harness for the canister in the rear. Not needed for an SR/RB swap or if you're deleting OBD-II monitoring.

Just like I said, EVAP rear harness.

You couldn't look at an FSM foo?

i have had computer woes lately..long story russ.
when i get my pc back up and running i shall consult the fsm.
thanks though russ. where the hell does that evap harness plug in? i know you said i dont need to run it, but id like to plug it in if i can.

It plugs into the F3 bracket, right above the F3 plug, behind the ECU.

so i searched on here for f3 bracket, but search kept omitting f3.
i searched adobe reader while looking at fsm for f3 and evap, to no avail.
i did dl the fsm to this pc, and i searched the section EL for electrical system. i saw many schematics for the body harness etc but i jsut got more confused.

on top of this, there are two "blocks" i thought were relays, but only one of them has a plug going into it, the other has nothing going to it. is that correct?

Completely remove the ECU. Pull the forward portion of the harness out as well. There has to be a section leading off to the F3 plug and to the EVAP plug, *unless* you're using a 95 engine harness.

the harness is a zenki sr harness modified for a 97 240sx, no idea of year of the motor, just zenki.

ok so i looked at my old ka harness and it was clear. it was on my ka harness and now its not on my sr harness, so i guess it is a 95 sr.
what exactly does that do or effect not having that hooked up?

No, it's an SR period. SRs don't have OBD-II systems so there'd be no EVAP canister at all, no matter what year it was. Read up the FSM, the EVAP canister is just a glorified charcoal canister with it's own monitoring devices.
