i guess where you are from the girls are all whores. not all 240's are tore up just the ones you ride.
JDMFF: if you want to be sure buy a low mileage auto s13 and drive it for a while until you start having problems with the stock ka, then swap it out for an sr. or buy a really clean 5spd s13 and save yourself from someone else's headache.

I have looked into a few sr20det in the norcal area and this is one I would consider because...
.... buy a virgin and do the swap yourself is seemingly cost effective until you look at the cali region and the popularity of 240's here. If you look at the break down you'll see why 5000 to 5500 is not bad for a sr20det.
The car....89-94 usually sold within 24 hrs for asking prices ranging from 1700 to 3500. And by the way 1700 is usually GARBAGE with a salvage title...here in cali that means smashed... trashed..and then put together buy who knows...frames are usually never straightened. Meaning you drift whores really never understand why the car is so unpredictable...even with all the Kazama you can get your paws on.
Then there is the issue of the sr20det engine ...lol anyone from cali knows here you get what you pay for. Usually a decent...barely decent sr...NOT front clip...sits at $2300 to $3000. Maybe if your lucky you get a Blacktop...Real lucky that is.
Hmmm now for install...not with your buddies and a few beers...I am talkin shops here in Norcal...ahem minimum $1000 to upwards of $2500 install fees. Oh you want AC so your girlfriend doesnt bitch about an old car...but now one without AC...shoot add another $300.
Then there is the issue of Smog...well you all know how that goes here in Norcal...were are not as priveledged as Socal.
So lets do the numbers...conservatively:
$1900 decent shell...so your boys dont think your about to take it to the junk yard everytime they see it.
$2500 sr20det engine...with supposedly 45-60km..for those of you that still buy the nonsense that all SR in Japan have to be removed after 45km because strict regulations.
Then the install hoping a shop doesnt fleece you since more than likely you sourced an engine from another vendor...$1500.
Hmmm...$5900 before smog.
I am letting people know because obviously research hasnt been done and here we are flaggin someones post. I am also in the market for a sr20det 240...and after doing the numbers this is pretty good. I have spoken with him and he has since purchase replaced many parts that were needed for it to be up to driveability. Like power steering lines...Brakes all the way around..etc. Alot more information than most people give. I have done research on it and asked him these questions...not gone off of someone else's info, who happens to be selling a car...or lives in another state.

4500~5500 sounds right for a fairly stock car with a stock sr.
when looking just take into consideration the basics:
Straight frame/body?
Rust?
Hacked up electrical?
bent suspension?
ect ect
just because it has aftermarket parts doesnt mean its a big reason why its worth so much more, its like giving the honda guy that has a whole car worth of APC his asking value.
some people want to do a swap, or a fairly bone stock car because they want to do the work... or maybe they dont want a SR?

If you guys find a better deal for a clean title s13 with sr20det then buy it. I think its a fair price.

I looked on zilvia. My car is the best deal. There is no clean title car with a blacktop in it for less then 6000 in the bay. So good luck finding one.
Thanks.

engines DO NOT have to be removed over 45km in japan whoever tells u that is a moron. yes they have strict regulations but nothing that says hey u must pull ur motor.:loco: every car must be checked by shops or similar to our State refs if sumthing is not up to date they REQUIRE you to fix it, now doing all this can be very expensive which is why cars go to auctions and get sold or stripped.

If you buy a stock clean 240sx, you could use the money you saved to repair/replace anything that needs attention. Also when you eventually do the swap, it will be more rewarding b/c you did it yourself. Auto 240sx are so cheap and plentiful around the bay.
