Hey guys,
My turbo return line seems to be leaking. (the end connecting to the block) I see oil on the fitting...AND it seems like there are a few threads showing...i think more than there should be.
What sucks is the power steering lines are def in the way of getting a wrench on the fitting, so i guess ill have to take them off to tighten the fitting.
Which leads me to my question: while im down there...should i just upgrade to a braided line for turbo return? and, what is the aggravation level for replacing the line with turbo still on car?
Thanks dudes. - J

my turbo water line cracked and I thought it was just loose. It developed a hairline fracture on the actual brazed welds. I would replace the line if yoy are taking it all apart.

The aggrevation is that it's just much easier to deal with the lines fitting onto the turbo if the turbo is out. It's not that hard. Just unbolting shit.
I can do it my sleep.
And I suck as a mechanic.

Are you sure that it is leaking from the return line? It would suck to have to unbolt all that shit and have it not even leaking. Check to make sure you dont have anymore leaks. Is this your car, do you drive it alot?
If you think you do have a oil leak MAKE SURE your oil level is good every time you drive it. And make sure its synthetic oil at that.

Now that i did some tests, it seems like its leaking from the oil pan around the gasket. Prob need to redo the gasket on the pan. I guess i should take care of the pan first.
After drifting around the streets all night and drag racing in philly in the car...which is my brothers, i noticed the pan def leaking...its just hard to see exactly where because there is some oil on the crossmember and other under parts.

make sure you have the copper crush washers on both sides of the fitting because you NEED those.

hahaha. just remember we have gravity. whenever you're trying to isolate a leak, there's always a mess at the bottom...so look UP and address the leaks from top to bottom, unless you have uv dye and goggles and can litterally see the fluid pissing out. words of the wise also...the pick up on sr20's sit extremely close to the bottom of the oil pan. if you have any dents in the oil pan, while you're resealing the lower oil pan using PERMITEX GREY or black, and not the red shit since the vapors are not 02 sensor safe, which you already knew i'm sure, look at the pickup very very carefully for hairline cracks, if the screen has some crap on it then now's the time to blow it off/pick it out. the pick up tube's are about $80, so if yours is cracked, but not that bad, holler at a good welder, it's steal so it can be fixed in a couple seconds. good luck
