View Full Version : All the Goodies With Un-Tunned ECU

Ok guys, I'm shopping around for as many parts as I can to get some more juice out the blacktop SR I have.

This is what I have now:
SR20DET BlackTop (Stock Turbo)
Stock ECU
3"Downpipe (and all the way back to a Magnaflow Muffler)
Walbro High Flow Fuel Pump
Turbo Manifold (Aftermarket)
Turbo Elbow(dump Pipe) Aftermarket
FMIC
SOHC KA MAF
Stock Injectors
Aluminum Radiator with dual electric fans

****Ok, I also have a BOV which I have not yet installed because I've heard the ECU needs to be Tunned (for vented BOV settings, I think this is BS but not sure) and also need to have the flange welded and not sure if before the TB or After the Turbo (think will do right before the TB after all the research I've done), need some input here too, I don't want to tune my ECU. What I want Is to get a Good Setup with a few other Mods to complete my setup W/O tunning the ECU, Z32 MAF are out of my shopping list for that reason.

So what I'm thinking of getting are:
Nismo FPR
Fuel Pressure Gauge
Manual Boost Controller (Need a recommendation on this) or Electronic?
Boost Gauge
Turbo Timmer
APEXi AFC NEO
Fujita Short Intake
***Injectors/Fuel Rail?(Don't think will be needing this since I'm not tunning)

Anything else anyone can think of please let me know and of the things I want which one to get.

Just slap the BOV on. Put it right after the turbo for ultimo ecu safe easy easy, have a muffler shop do it type work.

Disobey and so help me, you will rue this day!

Oh, and dont turn the boost up w/o having a wideband in there, and a real fuel controller. So at least an AEM FIC, Greddy Emanage, Power FC, Haltech etc etc. But AFM manipulating piggybacks...?? Stay AWAY.

Why the DONT GET THE APEXi AFC NEO

Read this: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?p=1077578#post1077578

thats over a year old.

AFC NEO is the same as the SAFC II(device wise), maybe the menus are just more difficult to get around, and more frustrating to tune, because of only 4 buttons, and no knob like the last one.

Thanks for that, so I'll save me some money then and use it for the wideband, what should I get?

as far as wideband goes? I have a buddy who just got a brockway and it's pretty nice and wasn't all that expensive

EDIT: these are only for OBD2 cars, not S13s

PLX Devices.
Then Innovate.
Then NOT AEM. EVER.

LM1 Is good with add ons for data logging.

How about the Boost Controller? Any Ideas, Anything Else That I should Get? I know the FPR and the Gauge should be good as well as the intake, but I just want to do this once and not be looking for something else later.

Thanks for all your help Guys

Power Enterprises boost controller/gauge.

Its a gauge and controller all in one.

AND AND AND.

You just turn the dial to set the boost.

No scramble.

No gain.

Just, "i want 16 psi"

"ok, 16psi is what you get"

Justifies the price x 1000000000

im glad to see that post john, about the neo. i was going to say the same thing but damn haha.

also using a different maf on an untuned ecu is freakin stupid also. im surprised you dont have a thread titled, why is my car running like shit?

and your whole, not wanting to tune idea is ridiculous...you have a turbo car, tuning is the key to making power, and making reliable power. you want a bolt on motor swap a ka back in. if you have an s14 blacktop you more than likely have a gt28r which is good for near 300whp. if you, got a larger maf, 550cc injectors, afpr(which you should always have with a walbro.der..) MBC is fine but a pain in the ass imo, and a good tune(enthalpy is you can still get them). however based on your post, you have lots of research before you go buying any more parts.

now thats what im talking about. i left the boost gauge out when i ordered my gauges today because i was looking for something like this, too bad its discontinued.

Each car owner has their own Idea Of how they want their car, I'm not looking for 350Whp, I'm just trying to get my car done the way I want, and the way I want is by not tunning the ECU, that's why I ask before I do anything. By the way, the car is not running like shit anymore.:2f2f: I just learned a whole bunch by doing all the work by my self and with hrlp from alot of peeps from here.

Tuning of the ECU must be done to make more power from adding more air.

To make more power otherwise, "freeing up power" by "lightening things" is the only other way.

**GASP** What?!!?!? The P/E controller gauge is no more?!?

TO SHAME!

I just don't want too much power right now, not ready for it, don't want K.M.I.A. yet, maybe some other time, this is learning time, tweak this tweak that and you know what I mean. Thanks for all your help guys any other recommends on another boost controller then since P/E no more???

Blitz SBC is allright.

Im not sure the P/E is no more. it is still on their site. So.

http://www.powerenterpriseusa.net/products/electric/PBC/pbc.html

Call call call.

Buy buy buy. Dont let them stop making this. All other boost controller should be burned like books under hitler. SERIOUSLY.

Cool, thanks man, I like what I see in http://www.brockwayengineering.com looks like I'm going with them on the wideband and few other things.

i think you can still get the PBC though, for $450 its a deal. it may be the gauge i mount on my forward bar because my vent pod is full. damn it'd be nice.

you need to read a little closer just as I did after I put that link up... they only deal in OBD2 so unless you have an 96- S14, shit outta luck.

Yup, just got to that part, no OBD2 here. So what else should I be looking for the wideband? Or I'm maybe just confused as hell right now, think gotta go drink a beer.

The data is communicated from the engine ECU and accuracy is ensured by the OBD2 protocol.

This thing is rock solid if you have something to data log to.
http://www.plxdevices.com/products/sm/afr/

Add
http://www.plxdevices.com/products/dm100/
For ultimate baller-ness.

If you need a tool to record and display in one, then the innovate LM1 is the way to go. You can add onto it (HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMENDED) as well.
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm1.php

I find the LM1 to be more errant, with slower update rates, and calibration (oh joy). But its a military grade rock solid tool. You can drop kick it, and it will keep working.
