looks pretty gross.

why the fuck you want aftermarket? stock koukis are perfect.

vertex has aftermarket ones. they are halogen. HALOGEN LOL ....

OptionZero

halogen reflectors, at that

but "specially made for HID"

s14 kouki headlights are perfectly fine as is; short of retrofitting or getting a completely upgraded unit from mike, everything else is just for "omg i got diff kouki lights" factor.

Reflector housings works good with HID if you want to blind people, especially oncomming traffic. Spend that money and do a retrofit with stanley/koito projectors.

I hope nobody with a kouki ever even thinks about putting those on.NEVER!!!

wow, hating on the T&E headlights now too? yeah those things suck, except they take away the completely odd bug-eyed look of the oem headlights. oh, and they look 15x better. but yeah other than that oh geez T&E headlights are crap, its just the "wow i got different headlights" factor for sure!

Wonder who originally made the halogen kouki lamps, because T&E, Uras, and Wisesports had them out at the same time (based on my observation)

if they werent so expensive (at least they are imo) then they would make a as a good base for an intake scoop for the track to get some air moving through for cooling

i thought this was funny..........

"Welcome to Backgarden co.,Ltd.
We are your trustworthy Taiwanese products importer.
We only offer the best quality products and satisfying experiences, please bid with confidence and quality goods will arrive at your doorstep."

not trying to hate at all, just thought that was funny. they're trying to say "hey sorry guys, i know most of the folks in our country are bootlegging and selling cheap shit, but honest.. we're NOT!"

whats more intruiging, i actually think that could be a half-way decent product. its more or less a "morette-style" light, i mean.. its a bezel (fiberglass or plastic, whatever) that can use whatever stand-alone projector you desire (ie: hella 90mm)

i understand its ugly, not trying to say its nice.. but shit, there's a LOT worse stuff out there, like THIS PILE OF SHIT:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/shaitaan28/P1020689Medium.jpg

but wait, there's matching taillamps:
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/rocessk3/newtaillights004.jpg

ah, painting them red makes them look SO much better:
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/rocessk3/newtailightsV.2002.jpg

ugh.......... this shit makes me sick. i dunno, i thought some of the cars i saw at the nisei car show today made be ill, but no.. doing the above to a beautiful lexus SC400 really makes me puke.

FYI, not only is there a nice GAP around the lamp (poor fitment) but get this, the fucking headlamps are NOT ADJUSTABLE! Folks on the lexus forums have been installing washers and L-brackets to help align them. gaddamn, if its one thing i hate is when people try to patch-fix poorly engineered GARBAGE.

I would say they're a cheaper alternative to real oem kouki headlights, but at that price, hell no.

There's no glass in S14 taillights. So...

Yeah.

poor quality look, design looks simple form doesn't meet with function , there are much more suitable alternatives. I'll try to find some examples to post up that are more from the DIY variety (retrofits with black housing). If you got a pic to post of a non ricey example post it up .

If you wanted an alternative headlight at least get something functional.

Still doesn't look pretty but can serve a purpose.

i was actually being quite serious. they don't flow NEARLY as well as oem tails, bright or not. oem kouki tails is something nissan did very right.

OptionZero
08-21-2007, 05:23 PM
i'm not fond of the amber turn sig part of oem kouki tails. if i had a set laying around, i'd probably crack 'em open and make that part red

i also didn't have oem kouki lights anymore anyways, and i know for sure my zenki setup wasn't viceroy approved^tm

had i access to some Active-K red/clear zenki tails (cough R240NA cough) i woulda gone that route

the oem tails suit darker colored cars better, imo

considering you dont have fucking high beams. unless thats some magic bi-xenon projector that i dont know about.

the vertex would be my only choice over the stock headlamps. and they are only 100 bux more FROM vertex. had i known about them prior i would have picked them up. the diamond cut corners are awesome lol

so.....

vertex is making headlamps now?

allow me to ask, what does vertex know about lighting? and, what type of bulbs does that headlamp use? i assume they are halogen, because for $500 you dont buy xenon.. thats for sure.

second, why would one go from a glass headlamp with projectors, to a plastic headlamp with reflectors? ah yes, i can see the sales pouring in now.

---

the other day i was at nisei show, i saw a veilside nsx (again). last time i saw one was in TAS, many years ago. the headlamps were interesting. i mean, the headlamps were good - they were hella 90mm. however, the casing that covers the lamp was completely exposed and not sealed. it was secured with 3 course threaded screws. i'm just curious, what good is a headlamp casing if its not sealed?

its 2008, y0. i guess headlamps dont need to be sealed. :-)

Functional as in track use and ducting it. I don't think you need high beams on a track.

those lights aren't THAAAT bad... but only if it was like 200 shipped. because fuck 299 + 115 for shipping? thats MORE than OEM that are nice

i dont think you need headlamps on a track.

fucking christ, i hate when people say stupid shit. honest, if you build something half-assed, dont try to pass it on as "track only" or "off-road use only" i mean... either it works or it doesnt.

like those headlamp vents are really going to help ventillate your car. either your car has a good radiator and it cools, or it doesnt. some shitty little headlamp vents arent going to be your save-all when it comes to cooling either.

people believe in half-assed solutions too much, and dont just want to fabricate a quality product. just say no to cheap shit, thanks.

i mean really, how many peoples cars do you know OVERHEAT because they have their headlamps installed instead of having vents like this? its bullshit.

irax

i don't think any one thought to use the ducting for their radiator LOL! I would use it for intake but w/e not really. If it was a cheaper alternative to OEM then it would sell like hotcakes and you know it. But because it's not cheaper I doubt anyone will buy.

turbo cars are the only ones that worry about heat... not NA. furthermore, it makes NO difference what air goes into a turbo car, because its intercooled. your intercooler is responsible for cooling the air, regardless.

CAI is a useless mod for FI cars.

irax
08-24-2007, 04:41 PM
I see your point, I wasn't talking about turbo. Thats great that, thats all you think about. I would use ducting for oil cooler or brake/ps cooler but w/e this isn't a thread about ducting, its about 'your friends in Taiwan's 1pc headlights' that should be sold by A Piece of Crap

Not ducting to your radiator idiot, air filter or turbo. Why radiator when you have a grille and bumper opening allready. And where I live I don't use my high beams ever anyways. But whatever its all cheap crap.

I did that to my lights a few years ago... then I got into an accident like two weeks later and destroyed them.
