View Full Version : Help! Car Wont Start...

ok so i just bought a new longblock after my old one shot a rod through the block...
swapped over everything from my blown one to the new one...drop it in..
now its not wanting to turn over...it will just spin and spin and spin but wont turn over...wtf..ive changed out the spark plugs , took my battery to autozone to get charged , put 2 gallons of 93 in it...nothing..

im going to TDC it and re-install the CAS tomorrow...

If you have fuel, spark and compression then all it can be is the timing. The cas is a bitch to get right. If all else fails just start pulling it and moving it one tooth at a time and you will eventually get lucky and get it to start.

ok i pulled the valve cover , got it to tdc and tried to match the mating marks up and they are like this

it doesnt even look like the mating marks can mate up to the marks on the sprockets...they are too far apart

What parts did you switch over?
On the timming chain, did you remove and reinstall it, or just take the cam cover off, then align the marks up?

ok , i did the whole timing over AGAIN for the 2nd time...did it perfectly , cams facing outwards , pistons at TDC, matched up the marks and bolt it all back together...
started right up!
but it sounds like absolute SHIT!, like a machine gun ...do i have to mess with the CAS?

ok , i just had to mess with the cas, its good now...
but there is a loud ass tick from the head, real loud....
its not a knock, its a TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK every second...air in lifters?

heyyyyyyyyyyyy even the tick went away!...i guess it just needed a drive to work the pressure back in...everything good now , thread ca-losed
