VLSD question

I just picked up a 92 240 fastback with a VLSD. I wanted to know what type of gear oil to use and do i need to put in any kind of friction modifier in it? Also doing the trans and i read on here that GL5 wasnt good to put in the trans. true or false?

any GL5 will work for your VLSD.. nothing special, since its a sealed unit, the internal fluid won't have any contact with foreign element.

and yes, GL5 is bad for our transmission since we have brass/copper sychro.
use GL4 in tranny (Redline MT90 is good), and GL5 is fine for diff.
