cheap ebay wheel spacers (trust or dont)

well i havent been on zilvia.net in a long time but i figured someone on here has used those ebay wheel spacers, are they gonna make my wheel fall off going down the highway im looking at the 1"1/2 or maybe the 2" they just look like crap i cant find anyone who has tried them to tell me if they wil hold

i would go with the poweredbyMAX spacers... they are super cheap... $70 for 15mm, $80 for 20mm, $90 for 25mm.. i think

Based on my experience, I would stay the FUCK away from anything made inexpensively as they are inferior in quality. I ran into heat dissipation issues, where the Z32 brakes & calipers were over-heating because there wasnt sufficient heat transfer going from the hub to the wheel. The wheel acts as a heatsink to help dissipate heat.

Anyway, when I did run spacers.. I dealt solely with Fred over at www.wheeladapter.com - great quality, fair price, and absolutely knowledgeable. There are other brands obviously, but Fred is the BOMB.

i actually have 1.5 inch spacers made for a jeep or something.

not hubcentric, was like $60 or so shipped for the pair.

rockin em out back, no problems dailying or drifting or jsut beating the shit out of it.

Depends on which design of wheel spacers we're talking about. The kind that just has holes your regular studs pass through are pretty easy to build correctly, but may require extra-long studs. It's possible to screw these up, but you pretty much have to try to make them badly. I run a thin lug-centric version on one of my cars in the rear to get more clearance.

The sort that you bolt to your hub and that has a second set of studs to attach your wheel, though, is another story. I've heard a couple horror stories about them. Most of them involve the nuts holding them to the hub coming loose, either because the metal the spacer was made from being too soft or because you may have to take the wheels off and retorque the spacers after 500 miles. Not good.

if you're worried abot a 1.5" spacer making your wheel fall off, you should purchase longer wheel studs and press them into your wheel hub and get some nice lugs. getting longer studs is common. new studs and lugs will prob cost ~100 - 120

how do you make a chunk of metal fail? if they did, i would have to say it would come down to user error ie. putting 1 turn on the lug nuts cause your lugs are too short etc.....

friend has had 25mm tc sportlines for about 1.5 years they're the type with studs pressed into them. he does drifting and autox on them. haven't exploded on him yet.

The failure I've usually seen is with the spacers that have studs in them, bolted to the hub - in that case, it seems things stretch a bit there and you have to retorque them, taking the wheels off in the process, and ideally retorque the wheels later. This type of spacer could also crack if very poorly designed.

The ones with the studs going through the spacer and into the wheel pretty much require extra-long studs if they're an inch thick, but other than that should be pretty reliable.

i got a set of ichiba wheel spacers and lugs and the spacers are great they are 10mm so not much but the lugs are crap- uneven threads, not good grade metal, they actually came loose from the hub
just wondering if someone knows of a better lug set to use. 50mm s14 front

I've used these guys before. 5mm hubcentric spacers and 20mm hubcentric adapters (built in studs). They will make them to whatever specs you want and they lasted for years, no issues.

i bought some 1" ebay spacers and ive had them on my car for almost 3 years. i used them for 1 run at a drift event (i do not recommend) 2 years ago. they are still intact today.

i have gone thrugh like... 3 types of spacers. I like the powered by max ones the most because they are hubcentric. everything on eGay is most likely not.

shit if only i had found the custom wheel spacer makers that Aspec posted about a while ago, id be rocking Titan wheels by now.

i was looking at the ebay ones too...they SAY that teir hub eccentric but they stole their entire description right from Ichiba's spacers.... I'd rather have the bolt on kind cause the ones with extended studs seems more sketchy to me.....i dunno hwta to do either....i need a set (2) 20mm for 4x114.3

i have 2 pairs from fred at wheel adapter... they still work good - i dont rock them tho anymore... I'll get some max ones in a few weeks i think.
