i just got done making a play-switch to turn on and off my fuel pump and i was wondering if its bad to run this kind of switch for a daily driver. btw my car has a sr, if that makes any difference. i say that this is bad cause i was told that the switch will keep the fuel pump on and running at all times and this might make the enigine run real "rich".

It shouldn't keep it on all the time no matter what. Unless you some how by passed the wires running to the ignition. While the car is the running the fuel pump is always on, it wouldn't make it run rich. I have a switch connected to the fuel pump, I spliced it into the wire coming out of the ignition cylinder to the fuel pump, no problems.

like stated above you shouldn't have a problem at all, fuel pump is always on when the engine is on.... only thing i can think of that would be bad is if you left the switch on, like u forgot to turn it off. It would probably prematuraly wear out the pump.

if wired right, no such thing will happen
Use a relay and a switch.

well yes you would/could use a switch and relay. but what i ment was that if he left the pump on after parking his car.... the pump would be on for no reason. if it is wired with a switch that is independent from the ignition.
