OK I was supposed to get a 240 at the end of this month, but my parents are building some big ass expensive house. And they aren't rich or anything, but wanted a bigger house. So now I came to an agreement with them, that I will give them all my money that I get from my job, and they will pay me back with some interest when we move, which will be around March, but my mom will be taking the train to work now, cuz traffic is a bitch, so now they will be giving me the Camry (at least it has a nice premium sound system). So by March or April, I would have gotten about $4K, unless I get a different job, then I will have more cuz I get paid shit.
Anyway, to the point. I always wanted a Fastback and an SR, but with all the newbs asking about SRs and someone always talks about how the KA is better, I have come to the point where I want the KA instead of SR. So I have come with a few choices:
1. Get an S13 Fastback, get an SR over the summer, like I have originally planned. The only problem with that is I want to get into AutoX, but with the whole bumping me up to a high class will be bad. If I get the SR right away then I would go for suspension them more power then loks.
2. Get an S13 Fastback, do some suspension, and like I/H/E, and keep it liek that and AutoX , then beginning of 2004 (so far away), get an SR.
3. Get a S13 Coupe, get a silvia front end, and use the left over money on suspension and I/H/E, then get better skill in AutoX, then when I feel I am ready to be bumped up in the next class, (swap a low mileage KA, if necessary) turbo the KA.
4. Buy an S14b (then be left with no money), slowly work on suspension. Then turbo KA.
I really like choice number 3, but I don't really know much on how much the Silvia Front end will cost. Anyone got any estimates on it? Also about how much am I looking at for getting the KA turboed, most likely I would go with something similar to an S15 turbo, something quick spooling for AutoX.
I know someone will tell me that in the end it will be my choice, but I just want here some input. I want to know which ones iwll be most cost effective. Choice number 2 is the cheapest, but I don't know how much the Silvia Front end will cost, anyone out there with it wanna tell me how much they paid.

You should go with choice #2......if u went w/ the silvia front end you will waste a lot of money if something were to happen to it ryte? Your better off learning skills at AutoX first.

So when is the earliest you will get the car, march? I say you're definately getting a fastback!! I say go with choice 1 or 2. Two would be a lot cheaper, and would warrent some experience in AutoX (well experience in a normal class).

i would go with #2, cuz i luv the fastbacks. plus, u'd have a fair amount of money to use on upgrades.
#3 seems like a better option because u'd have a lighter car than the FB. plus, iirc, the silvia front end is about 20 lbs or so lighter than the 240SX front end.
also, i don't think u should worry about bein in a higher class if u swap in an SR. that should only matter if u intend on seriously competing in AutoX. if anything, u should want to be in the higher class, just so that u can run earlier than the Stock Touring class.

Well at this point I kinda would want to get into AutoX seroiously, it all depends on how my first time goes. I was planning on doing Snow Trials (Auto-X on ice, well snow, but ice sounds better) in february, but I won't have a car . If my first time doing Auto-X goes well then I will prolly do it for real. First year is practice, second year will be more serious. It will be a fun thing to do on the side, since I'll be at College, between partying, homework, working, and AutoX, I will have a full schedule.
I see no point in spending lots of money for show, so I figure I might as well make something out of it. At this point I am leaning toward numbers 2 and 3. Number 2 will get my car to perform real good real quick, but there are liek 5 people that in about 2 years will have the exact same car (CWest kit with 5Zigen Typhoons and a Type-X wing). I have been looking at the pics of the GP Sports Kit, and the S13 Silvia looks sooooo SEXY .
Only problem is march is soooo far away, I will have to start looking into my choices even more. I hope that prices acutally go down, not go up. If prices for KAs and the cars go down, It will be all good. As of now I am ruling out the SR, but beginning to consider the CA, it seems that the CA might be better for AutoX.
Now to get used to this FF Camry, going to meets in a Camry is pretty gay . At least I wont have to worry about stupid Chicago weather.
BTW anyone got any links to people who sell the silvia front end, or is this one of those things where I have to find part by part by myself.

I would go for 2 and 4....because I like the S-14b better. However the S-13 is a lighter car and easier to find...you can make it a sil80 also. As for the S-14, why not swap in a SR?...either route you go (SR or KA-T) its still nice and fast car.
Also any choice you make you'll have a nice car.....oh yea I mainly go for #2.

Ya I am leaning a little more towards 3 becuz of the S13 Coupes handling abilities, plus the C-West kit and GP-Sport kits are sooo nice.

I guess that big red 2 got my mind thinkin, cuz that money that i would have spent on the Silvia front end, can be spent on a nismo LSD or KAAZ LSD and some nice tires. So now to wait, I prolly will change my mind in thge next 6 months or so.

Well, with school in the future, just get a 240 and some good tires and some minor tweaks (like replacing stuff that's worn out and a cd player) and be done for now. Freshman year and cars don't go well together at most schools. Likely you will be parking miles from where you live, outside, with thousands of other student cars (read people who don't park so good). Also there's an odd connection between clean cars and vandalism. Whenever my friends had things happen to their cars, it was when they had just been cleaned, even if they weren't very nice cars to begin with.
College is pretty expensive too. I'd have some badass toys for my car if I never had to buy books or beer during college life, but then I wouldn't have passed anything and wouldn't have had much fun. Although I always hated driving it, an 88 626 was a great school car because I never cared about it, never put any money into it, and it always started.
Save the SR swap for when you have a garage and a tool set worthy of maintaining it.

I am going to be commuting everyday for college, but it will most likely not be in my car, and be in the good ole camry. So that problem is solved.
My parents are nice and will be paying for my college books and such, I will only have to pay insurance and other car things. Between my brother and I, when we move we are most likely going to convert one of the garage sections (3 car garage), into a mini (microscopic) shop. Just for some basic stuff. Then we will take a couple auto classes, and do a couple things, so that problem is soon to be solved.
The only problem left is what will I choose (KA-T, SR, Coupe with silvia conversion, Fastback), but either way imma do AutoX.

If you aren't into spending a lot of money for looks, why are you considering a body kit?
Go with 2, 'cause college kids are poor bastards.
And wait untill you take the auto classes before tooling your garage, so you have a better idea of what you will need and what is just a waste of space and money

I never said I wasn't concerned with looks, or else I wouldn't consider #3. I will eventually get a kit. Anyone know if the C-West kits are wind tested for Drag Racing or for just general things. My guess is they would be good for AutoX, cuz C-West does a lot of JGTC Track racing stuff, although I will probably never reach some of thier speeds.
