Im thinking about selling my high comp. KA to get an SR, but only if the price is right. So, I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough estimate of how much I might expect to get for it. Heres the set-up.
-97 KA completley rebuilt with 10.5:1 supertech pistons (over $700 just for the bottom end machine work)
-fully rebuilt head with 91 cams
-unorthodox aluminum UD pulley
-aem intake, ebay headers, test-pipe, 3" exhaust
-all emissions removed on intake mani.
-would probley sell transmission w/ it (that has over 200k miles on it though)
-nismo motor and tranny mounts (unless they could be used with SR?)
-clutch w/ only 6k miles on it
-flywheel resurfaced 6K miles ago
-and anything else needed to make it a direct drop in or that I couldnt use for SR
The motor only has about 6k miles on it since rebuild (except timing components). But only had around 40k on it before rebuild. So, how much is this biatch worth.

Quick answer ~ not much. Not many people are going to spend $1000 on a KA they can't turbo when they could save the money for an Sr/turbo their current KA/build their KA for turbo. I'd shoot for $1000, and aim to take $800, but that's me, and I really have no idea if there even is a market for rebuilt KAs.

I would post it on ebay.. Turbo is the shit nowadays.. Not too many people are into the NA scene.. I wouldn't expect much.

Let me know how much you want for just the motor i already have a tranny. I just need a motor to throw in my car while i build me other ka for boost. If the price is decent i would like to pick this thing up. I live in south central pa. about 30 minutes from frederick maryland if you know where that is. I would like to see a few pictures of it also

Well, since im still on the fence about selling it, im only gonna let it go if I can get a big chunk of change out of it. What I basically want to do, is get enough money to get an SR without paying any extra. Or if someone wanted to trade for an SR, thatd be awesome. I think its worth as much as an SR since its strong running and very reliable. Thing is, most people are probably not looking for that. When I built it, my intensions were to have a car I didnt have to worry about breaking down all the time, and fun to drive. It is definatly that, but now I have a new daily driver, so reliability is not as important to me. Just more power. If I cant get an SR out of the profits, ill probably just go the whole nine yards NA, or swap pistons and go turbo.
This brings me to another question, how much SR's cost nowadays? I searched some the other day, but couldnt find a reputable website with listed prices.

There is no way anyone would trade a running sr20det for your ka.
I'd say you could get about $800 or less. So give up expecting to make money off of your, "high comp ka".
The motor/tranny mounts are the same on the SR.

Where in VA are you? I'm pretty sure there HAS to be somewhere with a dyno in reasonable time from you, what with all the shit VA has to offer, as far as motorsports goes.

This man speaks the truth.
You're most likely not going to be able to expect to get what you put into it back out of it, that is just the nature of the beast. Even the most hardcore of KA guys won't put a LOT of money into a high-comp KA, given what they could do in boosting one and still making more power.
If you come to the conclusion that you MUST sell it, then try to recoup what you can, honestly.

Wow, great post bud. Lets break this one down, cuz its probably up for the MVP (most valuable post) of the year.
1st line- basically what I said in the post above, but more definite.
2nd line- 2 parter here. 1st part- basically what gsxrjjordan said. 2nd part- i never said i was expecting to make money, just seeing what it was worth.
3rd line- exactly what topsecrt88 said.
Now I can see why you have so many damn posts. :mrmeph:
Back on topic now, I live in Waynesboro, VA. Its about 45 min. west of Charlottesville
