lol. I'm just curious how many of you have been in my position. This is my first time back on these forums in about a year. Some of you may remember me, some may not. I used to have an S13 w/ an R34 RB25DET. I totalled the car and shortly after my partout, I went out and bought myself a brand new 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9. After working all year and fixing the Evo up, I've realized this: Damn... I'm not nearly as happy with the Evo as I ever was with my S13. lol. So now I'm on the hunt for another S13. :bigok:

It's funny, after I crashed my 240, alot of people were like "yenno... you're gonna miss that car" and at the time I would be like "why? that car was a pain in the ass to work on and own." lol. And here I am.

So who's switched away from a 240sx and come back? What'd you get? Show some pics!

For refference, a stock Evo dynos around 220-230whp or so on the Dyno Dynamics dyno over at Speed Element. After everything, I ended up at 326whp/320wtq. So a little over 100whp over stock. STILL... dont have as much fun driving this car as I did my S13. lol.

Anyway I had a '97 custom silver paint with coilovers, nothing special. Totalled it while I fell asleep on the freeway (I know, I know) Sold it for $2,000 without rims and the whole front end was screwed and had a bent frame. Luckily my nismo LM GT4 rims were ok.

Went on to go buy an '01 S2000, didn't really mod it except exhaust. Everything was just too expensive for the car. Especially insurance (400+ a month, it sucks being 18) So I sold that car and I missed the fun I used to have from my old 240SX and recently bought another.

Present day I own a '98 pearl white 240SX and have had it for a couple months now, no regrets.

had a cheap peice of crap rusted frame 89 hatch, gave it away for tax deduction after hitting a light post. Had a 90' notch back 5.0L stang. Supercharged it (round 350hp I think, wierd ass throttle response from the centrifugal). Sold it to a dumb half-freind and he totalled it like a month later. Bought my best friends brother's 95' zenki with about 15-20K in it (all installs done by him or me) for 7K. Couldnt pass up the deal, plus Ford's 302 motors are sooo boring. and the wiring was all messed up in the car, so it gave me a nice project (clutch was gone, and turbo was loose on the flange actualy).The 302 is too easy to build and I had/have a serious hate for the fox body stang crew. Im to young to be an old hick (im 20) that hates on anything non-american (no offense). I like whoopin a$s in a little import, everyone stares down 5 oh's and wonders whats up when they hear the grumble and lopey idle. Its just no fun. I much prefer the moderate challenge of keeping my zenki in good shape and re working all the wiring and just doing the general repairs really wealthy kids that dont pay for stuff seem to forget, opposed to bolting crap onto a huge retard-proof motor that you cant really ruin if you try. Just my thoughts, not to offend anyone that likes stang's.. Just not my cup a tea.

BTW: Huge props for the s2000 ^. I love those cars so much. I would probably have to mod it if i had one (friend has turboed one with built motor running 10.2:1 compression, 300zx diff kit and all types of shit) but those cars are dollar for dollar the most fun car to drive stock. Shifting at 9K is a hell of a feeling, i got no built head on the 240 :(. My other friend actually flipped one and walked away too. I give the s2000 two thumbs for sure, theyr cheap used now too.

I've had my 240 for a few years now, but during our "off" times (when it decides not to cooperate/etc) I drive the z06, my Tacoma, and my roomie's SC300... I love the vette's stability and brakes, I love the truck's 25mpg with A/C and seating for 5, and I love the SC's leather, tint, A/C, and torque. Not to mention the GSXR1000 for all those nice afternoons in the canyons, runnin 10sec 1/4's, or doin wheelies...

None of 'em hold a candle to the enjoyment I get driving my car. It's just special to know that I've tooled on every goddamn part of that car. The suspension's tighter than the z06 and makes me want to try and outdrive it, the motor makes those beautiful noises and revs forever (believe it or not, the powerband on the z06 sucks... it's like 3500-6000, then you have to shift before 6500 or the rev limiter goes bananas), the seat holds me perfectly (interior in the other rides sucks, especially the z06), and every time I park somewhere someone tells me how cool the car is/etc. It's goddamn special.

Plus when you're not driving a 240 and you wave to a 240 guy, he immediately thinks you're gay/a cop/both/etc... it's just not the same :)

Edit: Sorry to shit on kid's parades, but anyone that's actually driven a stock s2000 will tell you how tired they get of having to rev it all the way to the moon to get any power out of it. If you ask me, it's dollar for dollar one of the WORST cars to drive stock. Get a 350z or a c4 vette.

Dollar for dollar I'd say it's the best car you can get stock, because no doubt it's an amazing car. Reving to 9k never gets old in my book, but struggling to get power gets annoying. But on those highway races the s2k doesn't shine more, drop it into 3rd at 75 and it takes off. For being an amazing handling roadster that thing sure is fast. Hard to figure out to launch because you're supposed to launch at 7k :loco: But I missed the pure fun I got out of my Kouki so I got another one the s2k was just an adrenaline rush that got old.

But if I were to buy another honda I wouldn't buy another s2k, too many people have them NSX all the way.

Edit: Last time I checked we were talking about cars? Bikes don't compare in terms of performance or price.

I have never really driven a car for the money that will hold up to my standards for a FUN car to tinker with. I like the way the s13 feels like a go kart on cocaine with rocks for suspension and I love not knowing if the car is going to overseer or under steer and kill me with 400hp at my back etc.

Everything else is just civilized and for the most part slow or heavy /$ for my liking.

I remember a couple people going sc300 and selling the within a year to ogo back to s13 coupes for track cars.

Its personal preference I guess. Ive been doing 240s for 6+ years and nothing fits quite like it now.


if I could afford to tinker/tune/beef up Z06 last model not the most recent that would be a nice little preference.

HA i was just thinking about this. My first car was 93 Fastback slushbox which I loved but unforunately got totaled. Then I got a DSM which was quick but a PITA to work on. That eventually blew up, so I gotta s14 zenki right after that. I loved the S14 because it was so clean and so little miles on it, only 36,000 when I picked up in Jan 2006. I drove that around for over a year with little mods and got into drifting with it. Sold for a huge profit to some kid, and now I have a mint 93 300zx TT. Its fast and gets me looks, but its just not the same as my slower s14 lol. I cant drift it because its too mint and I dont wanna kill the value of it, plus its my only car at the moment. So im thinking of selling it, getting a daily for school and what not, and build an S13 coupe. Or just get a beater s13 to daily and drift at the weekend events. Idk, this is a tough choice!!

btw how did you only make 326whp with all those mods i was at a shop with the same dyno, with a 9 with kn pannel filter and turbo back and a reflash and the evo made 340whp.. stock turbos ect..

you should of been well over 400whp range with all the mods you have..

I started off with an 92 S13 coupe.. Tein Stechs, KYB AGXs, Z32 brakes f + r, other small stuff.. Sold that for my current S14. I have been thinking of getting rid of it for a while now. I'm sick of wrenching on it. At this point in my life I just want to focus on work and school. I just want to buy a new car with a warranty, and not worry about shit with it. I don't have a daily driver so.. yea. I love 240s and I'm sure if I leave, I'll come right back. Nothing else feels quite like my S14...My love for 240s is undying. I told myself.. If I leave the 240 scene, my next car needs to be RWD, or RWD turbo. I won't settle for any less.

I don't like the S2K. It's a drama queen. Makes way too much noise for no fucken powerband. My bro has an 05.. the 2.2L. I've driven it countless times.. I love it for the interior, and the "new" feeling. My car handles better, is faster, brakes better, etc...But I'll tell you what. I've only attracted ONE girl with my car, which now happens to be my fiance.. However, I've attracted more dudes than I can ever count with my 240 :cry: :madfawk: :rl:

I fell in love with Evo's when they first came out. The biggest turnoff for me having one is most evo and sti owners in the Mercerville, NJ area are big-headed. Their shit is the best, no one can touch them, blah blah blah.. Scumbags.. I loooove the car though :)

I only respect people who earned their cars, mods, etc. I hate any "mommy and daddy" kids who think they are tough because their car is fast, or better because of watevs... I wish there was a retrofit for the 240s to bring their interior up to par...

I used to have a very very nice S14. Lightly modded; the perfect daily driver.

I needed some cash, so I sold it for a huge profit in 2003 and bought myself an old Jetta GLi, thinking that an old German car might be fun to drive. I also bought a junky FC turbo2 to work on and make into a weekend racer.

I sold both those piles and after 3 other 240s, I'm back in an S14 and an audi A4 daily driver.

I should have never sold that first S14. It could have been a monster by now. Live and learn. But at least I have another one now that I have a lot more disposable income to throw into it.

i absolutely love it, its basically all stock except for suspension, rims, exhaust, welded diff, and some interior stuff. but its a blast to drive, so much more fun than my civic was. I think i'll be sticking with the S chassis for a while.

I am slowly coming back.

First car: 93 B13 SE-R Sentra, swapped in a Bluebird SR(FWD turbo) and did some suspension. Sold the car and made a huge profit on it.

Second car: 95 B14 SE-R Sentra, VVL swap and some suspension. Then I had a craving for a 240 so i swapped back the stock stuff and then sold everything.

Third car: 90 Hatch, such a dirty ass car when I first got it, high mileage body and SOHC. Put some wheels, fixed up the SOHC, did some audio. Wasted a lot of my money going out partying and on computers and electronics that I forgot my original goals.

Fourth car: 01 G20 manual(hard to find back then). Wanted a daily while I could make the 240 a track car. After a month it I got into an accident where both front and rear end were damaged.

Fifth car: 06 Sentra Spec-V. Still needed a daily and after the g20 was crushed I sold the 240 to help get down payment. Now I am trying to sell this car now so I no longer am wasting 700 a month on FWD.

Next car? Saving up to import something so in the mean time driving a Chevy truck. NO MORE FWD PLEASE. Might pick up another S-Chassis car soon to go out on the track again.

Fuck thats long.
Moral of story? Don't ever buy FWD, it will never be fun.

my first car was a 89 240sx back in 1996, put an SR in about 1999 crashed in 2000. almost bought a 1997 se but decided to get a civic cuz of the availability of parts back then. put a 194 whp gsr in the hatch. it was fun and fast but nothing like the 240. sold the civic in 03 and bought a sc300. that car was fun but i sold it in 05 and bought a 1998 240sx. I'll try to keep my story short.

I bought my first '89 S13 hatch last year in May. Being 17yrs old, with no license, insurance, hell...not even a PERMIT, the car sat for around 6 months before I was finally able to drive it. Paid $2500 for it with no help from my parents. Saved up money for over 4 months with a minimum wage job working 40+ hours weekly.

Here it was super clean and stock.

This car was AMAZINGLY clean as all hell. It took me over 6 months to find one in that condition, but it was well worth it.

Sold my S14 and bought my Evo IX. Couldnt be happier, have a car with decent power and i really dont have to worry about something falling off or that random rattle. Maintainance on the IX isnt bad, i did all my own work on the s14, gonna do the same for the evo.

Might pick up an s13 coupe as a track toy someday. Oh and evo wheel offsets SUCK BIG DONKEY BALLS!!!!!!

Eventually I want to pick up an s14 in the future, but I doubt that will happen with people crashing them left and right, and a possible crack down on gasoline powered cars in the near future. Drove a Dodge stratus for about 6months until I bought my first s13.
Fixed up the s13 and sold it. Bought another s13 fixed it up and sold it for profit. Moved to the islands for a year and really didnt need a car. Now Im back in Georgia driving a 2000 cavalier. Its a nice A-B car but it will soon be sold.

I want a new car but its something nice about having a car paid off.

My first car was an S14, similar to the one I have now, except it was stock. Knew nothing about cars or engine swaps or suspension or anything when I bought it, didn't really care.

Decided it was too slow one day, and bought an MR2 Turbo. Did a bunch of stuff to that... TD06, coils, etc. When I went to college, I was forced to sell it because I no longer had a way to pay for it and nowhere to put it.

With the money left over from that, I bought a Mazda 323 GTX for a daily. Turbo, AWD, and 2600 lbs. was pretty fun; no one ever expects a 20-year old Mazda hatchback to blow-off at them. :p Bad crank key-way eventually killed that car, though.

I then decided to get another S14 since my first one was the most fun car I had owned up to that point, despite being the slowest. Since SRs, KA-Ts, and RBs are so common now, I figured I could have my cake and eat it, too.

The rest is history, I suppose.

S13 hatch - overdrafted my bank just to buy it....non-running. Had it for almost a year and did nothing with it. Sold it later.

I've considered an FD rx7 and s2000... but i dont know...

I plan to go all out (as i already have spent so much on it, its like im already in the rut), and do an ls1 swap, finish of all the suspension and brakes work that i plan and yeah... if it still sucks compared to a z06/ferrari/carrara gt/spl 300zx, lol ill trade it for a better car or something :P

Bought my 2000 corolla 5 spd in 2004 because I was sick of the old car problems
Sold that in 2006 for my 1998 kouki AT and hated driving it but loved the handling... its in the driveway getting an MT and JIC coils
Future plans are suede dash and suede/leather z33 seats, complete interior redesign then KA-T

I had a 89 hatch stolen and curbed, got it back, sold it, then bought a '92 E36 2 door auto. Nice as hell, but not as 'raw' as the 240. sold it, same day I bought my lovely '92 Coupe. After 2 years of learning how to wrench on it (never would have learned on the bimmer) All I need is a paint job to match the Silvia front and bodykit. Been a little rough lately with the daily driving on a slammed Stance suspension AND bodykit. I just REALLY need to paint it. Been thinking of either selling it and getting a manual E36 2or4 door black Bimmer again or getting a auto 4 door E36 for my daily and see how that works out. Haven't really got to "drift" my car at any events in the worry that I will break my daily and be screwed for a bit. Oh cars.....you wacky cars you.

Had a S14 several years ago (2001 ish?) for 3 months. Got hit by a crazy woman, totalled by insurance. However, now a friend of mine drives it (long story).
Bought a S13 hatch, tree fell on it and damaged the hatch door. Sold it to a friend in Maryland. He's using the motor in how current car, iirc.
Bought another S13 hatch w/ Hicas a few months later (mid 2003 iirc). Swapped rear subframes, upgraded suspension, bought lighter wheels/better tires, drove it like hell, then sold it b/c I wanted something lighter and better on gas....but RWD. Solution? Miata.

Now I'm thinking about selling the Miata and buying my friends S13 coupe. Always wanted a coupe...and this one is in pretty good shape compared to my previous cars. Only time (and money) will tell.

i was in your position. i crashed my old s14, and was left with the decision of what next. i went down the line through them all contemplating and putting out all the pro's and cons of each. i looked into importing a car as well. i chose between an FD and an s14, or putting money down on a new Evo, G35, or 350z. i chose another s14 because i knew the car inside and out, i didnt want a car payment again, and i got a hell of a deal from a friend on my current s14. this coming fall ill be looking for a subie to daily, something inconspicuous.

i had a hicas 92' fasback, sr'd coilovers etc. it was my first car and it was bone stock and only had 59,000 miles when i bought it. upgraded it, then totaled it before i even hit 90,000. then i bought a 90' fastback shell for $200. it was CHERRY, but it was stripped haha. this is my current build. i just got rid of my totaled shell today and made room for the s14 im picking up tomorrow.

i was looking into the new civic si as a daily driver. but when i test drove it, something didnt feel right. the very next day i sat in my friends sileighty, and BAM i was back into a 240 (the s14 im getting tomorrow)

I've been wanting to get an audi a4 quattro....

I forgot to mention I got an '02 A4 Quattro 1.8t this summer

It handles well for a boat with wheels i think its like 3500 pounds or so. Rain is where its at tho. Dunlop tires and an ECU Stage 1 Flash are all thats done to it.

I've read and found out that Audis (and most germans) are only reliable up to 70k miles. Afterwards you're looking at lots of costly maintenance. Mine has 108k and has burned 3 coilpacks in 4 months :down:

Quite a bit different then the RB's powerband which has turbo from any RPM.


T88 came on pretty late but very violently. Boost started at 3500-4000 and climbed slowly to 4700 then it shot up to ridiculousness.


For the very few times I had the balls/stupidity to watch my tach instead of road when boosting, the 5000's went by in about .0001 seconds (exaggerated) straight to 6200 where it barely slowed down.


Coming up an on-ramp in 3rd it got a little sideways and i was able to straighten out but i didn't get traction again until it bounced off the rev limiter at like 75mph


Every person I gave a ride to was a little bit shaken up and little paler when getting out. It was great. They all loved the G-Force smacking 'em into the seat. Some tried to touch the dash but no one was able until i shifted.


The turbo came on the car when i bought it and I loved ever terror filled second of driving it but I wouldn't recommend it for the street. When I rebuild it for the track it will most likely get a 67dbb or something like that.


Although due to the lag it helped keep me out of boost while driving around town, lol. So a little bit of an upside with better gas mileage...I guess?

well i had a 12 sec eagle talon TSI then a 332WHP evo 8 and now a hatch s13 and looking to buy a coupe this weekend. i was forced to buy the s13 after being in jail for 6 months came home to find my evo had been repod so i needed a car and fast. so i bought an s13 figuring it was cheap and a sportscar so i would just have to settle for it. well my attitude has changed after owning my s13 for a little over one month now, i realize the potential and love the feeling of RWD. i guess what im trying to say is that i thought i was settling for a beater but in actuality it is the best car i have owned of the 3. sure the evo and TSI were fast but there is just something about the S13 i really love

lets see i've only had 3 240's.. first one was the nicest.. s14 never got around to drop a motor.. thats the second accident i ever had, car totalled :-( back after picked up another couple cars.. then came back to an s13 coupe.. had that.. sold it 2 yrs later.. then couple of cars again.. and then back to s13 again.. this one is staying for sure!! simply love the s13 so its a keeper.. have a4 1.8tq as daily.. not bad.. as long as previous owner did the maintenance properly they actually are quite nice cars especially for the price, great gas mileage too :-)

SOHC blew up, many issues with the SR swap (7 months since the SOHC blew up and still not running. SR swap started back in November). My boss that sold me the car felt bad so he let me daily drive the company van for awhile. Had 2 special addition Kicker L7's with like a 3k watt amp, extremely loud, had some fun with that.

2004 - 1st s13, sold in 1 month
2005 - 2nd s13, sold in 8 months

Okay so I turned 16 (i had been getting into trouble lately...) and my dad gave me a matchbox car and said thats the closest thing i'll get to a car until i'm 18... Yea, Fucked up huh!? So i decide to buy my own pos.

1st car = 1989 Pontiac LeMans... Didnt run, got her running huge piece of shit, threw the rod out the bottom end running it too hard to school one morning. total -$650

2nd car = 1992 Del Sol... thought i was the shit, i was a stupid ricer, modded it and blew out the bottom end about 6mos after i bought it. Put it up for sale, it got stolen, recovered it, got stolen again! ended up in virginia with the dude who stole it asleep in it! he got arrested i got an insurance check. Total -$5000 +$2800 insurance = -$2200


3rd car = 1993 Geo Tracker... hard top roof, 5sp, rwd, it was a blast driving the piss out of this thing in highschool... sold it for twice what i paid for it a year later. total -$1600 +$3500 = +$1900

4th car = 1993 S13 fastback. Loved this car, just getting into real driving and performance. Dumped a few thousand into it. Blew the rings on one cyl. Should have just used a can of ring repair shit, but parted and sold it. drove it for a year. Broke even on this one. $0

5th car = My dad is tired of me spending time and money on cars so he says if he buys me a car he gets to pick it, i'm like okay sure. So he gets something he KNOWS i cant race, nor do i want to. Its a 1998 Acura 3.2TL. I call it the Blacura, its big, its black, its 4dr, automatic, heavy, FWD and not something i can jack with. he paid $5600 for it, it was pretty reliable for 2.5 years, I sold it for 1800 after it started breaking down, got to keep the cash for down on next car. +$1800

6th car In between the blacura i found a S13 coupe and offered the dude to buy it, he said "now i know what this thing is worth" trying to be a hard ass "I wont take a penny less than $750"... i about choked and ran to the bank, bought it cash the next morning. Turned around 3 weeks later after just playin around in it an a dude offered me $2500 for it. I had to take it. I hadn't transfered titles or even put gas in it! just too much profit for not doing anything, coulda kept and modified it, but didnt. it was bone stock. total = +$1750

7th car. My older brother knew the Blacura was crapping out so he gave me his 1988 Honda civic hatch. It was so shitty, but honda boys loved it. bone stock, origional owner, 1.5L 5sp pure honda hatch. Light weight base model didnt even have a pass side view mirror, it was BASE model. Turned out the drive from arizona to dallas killed the little thing, in 4 weeks time i replaced valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, battery, cap/rotor/wires, full detail, and then the alternator went so i said fuck it and let my bro's girlfriends brother have it (he lives in dallas too) total = -$500 in 3 weeks!!! FUCK HONDAS

8th car My pride and joy, a Kouki S14. This thing popped up on craigslist and within 48 hrs i had purchased it. it was perfect timing, and EXACTLY what i was looking for for the past 4 years. Kouki with SR, no moonroof, not black, and nice straight body/interior. Turns out it had a bunch more goodies that i was looking for which was an added bonus, and was worth every penny i spent on it. Total -$10,000 +lots more mods equaling another $5000.

So here I am 23 and finally have the car i've been wanting since highschool. only took me 8 freakin tries!

1st. 89 pignose hatch se sohc w/220,XXX on the odi. No mods, just drove the shit out of it. then found..
2nd 89 pignose hatch base sohc w/174,XXX on the odi but in better physical condition. Modded it: SR, C/Os/FMIC etc etc..
Sold my first one to a buddy. I miss that car even though the one I have right now is in better shape and has mods. With as much money as I've spent on this car my will, will state that the car be crushed and shaped into a coffin and I be laid to rest in it lol

I've only ever owned 1 240, my current S14. Going on 5 years with it and have pretty much replaced everything on it with either new OEM or aftermarket. I've went through 4 daily drivers in the 5 years but the 240 has always stayed. When a motor blew up I just detail her and put it in storage till the next motor is ready(in storage now awaiting 2.3L SR).

This is crazy because my firs car was a 89' S13 that already had a twin cam swap.. This was in 04, and it left such an impression on me that all the cars I went through till now have sucked in their own way. Had a EM1 with a b16b, blew the engine, then switched to a G35 but I could figure out what to do with it, so I traded it back in and let my brother get what he wanted(nothing interesting in the dealer.) Next week I am buying a 91' hatch and have big plans for it... (I CANT WAIT!)

Yeah. Hit traffic on Bay Bridge so I stopped, but was the last one in line, and the guy behind me was too busy drinking his coffee so he rammed into my car going 50mph or so and pushed me into the car in front. Damages came out to 19k so they totalled out my car.

While I was fixing up the s13 coupe, I picked up an sc300 5spd blk/blk, Thinking I was gonna swap like a 1jz, but turns out the car was not what I’d expected. I think sc’s are just way to heavy and it’s not my cup of tea, so it just sits there and rot on my drive way.

And now the s13 coupe is for sale, after when I fix it, paint it, ect. Sc300 will be sold when I come back for Christmas, hopefully.
And in the mean time I’m trying to sell the STI too, cause I don’t even drive the damn thing cause I work in Puerto Rico and live in Texas.
But…after selling my toys, Ill be in search of another 240 but maybe an s14 this time. Probably just for track only, and just hang on to it till I’m old. Thinking about an rb26 swap, awd, 1 million pt roll cage, with some 20’s -40 offset front and rear setup J.
But I truly think 240’s are the shit and no other car fits me best but it. I thinkI’ll be in my 50-60’s still driving my track 240 around.

No, im not Eugene, but what wheels did you buy from me....lol i sold so may wheels from that car.....any how im back.....i'll have pics of my new s13 soon.
