shot some pics in detroit yesterday.

went downtown yesterday with a buddy. we saw some crazy crap, and i dont want to get into it. but heres a few pics. the old building im inside is the old packard building. its where they built packard cars way back when. its filled with homeless at night from what i hear. but we didnt see anybody there. i know the lighting is all blown out, but i think it adds to the feel of these pics.

same old camera. rebel XTi with the kit lense. same stuff if you were to buy it from best buy. i'd like a new lense, and a different editing program, but im still learning the camera. baby steps. i am happy with the results this time around.

My friends and I broke into an old parking garage once when it was raining and set up some ramps so we could skate...and my friend was telling about about the week before where saw a hobo and just pulled a knife and stood there staring at him...

Safe to say the homeless people never bothered us again.

At least you shot the nice areas in Detroit. Seriously that shit is way too common in Detroit. I still go there every year for the autoshow, but what a shithole. Unfortunately we are there in the winter and it's not as easy to access those type of builders for shots. Plus it gets dark so early. The shitty areas aren't exactly the type of places you wanna hang out at night with $5k of camera equipment with only two people...

just photoshop elements. i dont even have the real version. the only thing i really did to all of them, is desaturate them. they came off the camera pretty close to how you see them.

thanks guys. and just a little history, the place, packard auto company closed down in 1958. its been sitting ever since i suppose. they used to have guards keeping people out of the building. but i guess in the past 6 months or so, they stopped the funding for them. so you can walk right in like 50 different doors throughout the outer perimeter. which makes it easy for ANYONE to get in. i suppose that adds to the creapy factor. we're planning on going to another place on sunday. gonna try and get atleast 2 more people to go with us this time. we were at this building for like 3 hours it seemed like, and we didnt put a dent in it. which is effing crazy. so we'll bring some more experienced guys with us that can show us around. rumor has it, there is an old motorhome somewhere on the premesis that some bums live in. and they had a section that was turned into a paintball arena. all sorts of shit to discover. im hooked.
