How do you do it? The damn thing just turns everytime I try to get that bolt loose.

Thx

Put a pry bar into the torque converter teeth and use a breaker bar to break it loose. Good luck. Don't break any of the teeth.

Use an impact/compressor.

if your compressor cant do it......then you have a shitty compressor or your sol.

there's a couple of ghetto ways to do it. i would suggest what nassin said.

Motor/tranny still in car? you can remove the starter and pry against the tq converter that way

or

if the motor is removed.. load it up and take it somewhere. just drive up to one of the bays and ask a tech to zap it off for you... it wont take but a minute and hopefully they wont be assholes.

or

U can put a breaker bar on it.. pry it against the ground.. and bump the starter.......Its a really stupid and dangerous way to do it.......but it works :)

I might just wait to replace the seal after I do the 5 spd swap.... so I can actually get that bolt off

id rather not risk breaking something.

Thx

i had to do this with hand tools only with the engine on the floor.

put four flywheel bolts back in
wedge a breaker bar in there
have someone hold the bar or brace it against the floor
break the front crank bolt off

put breaker bar on the bolt and sit against ground, sit in car crank engine over very quickly, this could be very dangerous and is definetly not the correct way of doing it but i can't see why it wouldn't work.

Yes it's extremely dangerous, but it works. If you try this method do it at your own risk.

Another way is to just go buy a better compressor.

And you get a cool compressor accessory kit with all the trimmings.

be a man! Tear it off with your teeth! :Ownedd:

haha, you could take the oil pan off and wedge a bar into the bottom end.. that pretty much stops all rotation. :)

some places sell a crank pulley holder, it looks like something you would never want to be whipped with. it wraps around the pulley and goes down. careful, it can damage the pulley tho.

i think the best bet is to go to a shop and have them remove it with a Impact gun, I did mine with the impact and it came off EZ......

In a pinch put a breaker bar on it and hit the starter in the car. Not that risky, just realize it doesn't take much time at all to loosen.

I definitely wouldn't run around with an oil leak on a ka. Never let a ka run with an oil leak or overheat. Asking for trouble.

any cool tricks you guys know off to take off the pulley while its sitting on an engine stand. i know the correct/easy way is to use an impact gun, but i was wondering if there was any other cool little way any of you guys knew of.

there prob isnt besides the impact. lol

The "quick start of the car" system works. yes it could be dangerous but it busts the bolt loose everytime that I have used it.
Can you rent a compressor at a local hardware store? Home Depot?
