okay...so ive been working on my car for the last 2 days in the sun..i have no idea what the exact piece is called...and i have tried looking everywhere for it on the internet....and searched for it on zilvia..i think its called the control arm or steering rod that has a boot to protect itself from sand....which steers the car left and right...

since my drivers-side control arm is broken off...i want to know how i can replace it..just the actual rod..

sorry i have no pictures...it would help a lot...

since i have 2 240s (89 fastback and 91 coupe)..im just replacing one from the other..its just i dont know how to remove...if somebody can possibly help..that would be great...

lately ive been driving my old Z in replace for my 89 240..since the other 240 is just laying in the dirt...and my brother doesnt have enough time...since hes working on his Z too much..

if anyone could find any tech help on how to fix it..or any sites that could help..ide appreciate it...even the installs in twinturbo.net didnt help..

thanks..

jon

the steering rod your refering to is the tie rod there is an inner and outer tie rod.

are you asking how to replace the tie rods or the control arms? i got a lil confused by your post?

for the tie rod its either a 19mm  or 22mm (i think its 19mm) loosen the bolt nearest to the tire.then there is a nut on the knuckle itself which i beleive is a 22mm in this case remove cotter pin unbolt nut and remove outer tierod. by spinning it off.

the inner tie rod you would need to remove the boot and i can't remember the rest so i wont say something that i dont remember. but you should be able to tell how it comes off. (hopefully)

also to help you they do have tie rod tools to help you remove and install them see if your parts store rents these out
