well, first day i got my car i was on teh highway, and i downshifted to second trying to get to 4th(stupid me) and the wheels squaked for a second before i put the clutch back in and went into forth, no damage it appears, but still pissed me off, i find the shiter long and narrow.  i have a canadian car so i dont have that problem with the speedo, also i find teh seats are majorly bad on your back if you have a wallet in your back pocket due to how you sink down into them.

my blazer has the MPH in 10's. i tend to drive faster for some reason. i guess it's whichever you are used to.

I think the 89', 90' S13 goes 15 25 35.... and the 91' - 94' goes 10 20 30 40....
The gear shifting, from 3rd to 4th, just go straight down. 4th to 5th, put it back to N and then move it right and up. Just get used to it and it'll be fine.

Why is the speedometer in increments of 25,35,45, etc?
I'll be cruising and before I realize- I'm going much faster than I thought I was. Why couldn't the thicker white lines be for the 30, 40, 50mph???

Secondly, the shifter doesn't really give any feedback of what gear you're in. I'll be in 3rd trying to shift to 4th and it feels like I could be going into 2nd. Same thing going from 4th to 5th, I have to pray I'm upshifting into the correct gear before letting off the clutch.

Are these common experiences you might have had when first driving your car, but just gotten used to? Anything that really annoys you also?</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
complaining about the spedometer increments? i don't ever think i've heard such a petty complaint.

you can't tell what gear your in? if this is true, you probably shouldn't be driving a manual............no it's not the best transmission around........but c'mon.........having to PRAY you're in the right gear.......maybe you should stick to AT minivans

If you've ever driven a stock s13 travis...you'll know what he's talking about. &nbsp;Though if you can't get through the gears fine, you have serious inexperiance issues...but the s13 shifter totally sucks. &nbsp; No feeling at all <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

anyways on the topic of the shifter i have never had any problems with my s13 the trans feels better than my sr20de in my sentra (but thats due to the damn thing being fwd and using connecting rods so the feel sucks)

plus my s13 was the first 5 speed i ever owned and i swapped my sentra to manual after that. so the s13 isnt funky in shifting like people say? which i dont understand

my shifter in my 89 feels like a long throw shifter...
my previous escort had a shorter throw!!
I think the long throw is what saved the synchros in mine though, 154k on the odo and I can't really power shift it thanks to the 10" throw from first to second. &nbsp;
also, I vastly prefer my speedo to the one in my roommate's 2002 civic, it goes by 20's!!! I will be driving it in 2nd or 3rd and see a 35 mph sign, look down, and all I know is that I'm somewhere between 20 and 40 mph. &nbsp; Its a little silly...

ok i got an 89 1 thin u will also notice 91+ go to 110 and 89 and 90 i think go to 115 yea the throws are weird i just got use to it cause not all cars are going to be the same and i switched from a 4 spd to a 5 spd so it was a change i have an OBX short throw and it is badass way shorter then reg throw like u dont think ur in the gear sometimes i do that.. but 4th to 5 yea i just did the to N then to 5th i found it is better when ur throwing fast to push to the right more cause it is rather angled but my 2 cents

Heh I have a 95 s14 and there are a few things I dont like or have had a problem with..

1. &nbsp; No cup holder... I have cleand pop out of my shift boot more then once.

2. &nbsp; I have only miss a gear once. not the cars fault but it was quite a trip to be pulling onto the freeway around a bend and to drop it in 2nd and not 4th...WHAM hit rev limiter Broke both back tires loose and did a little drifting around the corner.. quite fun after the shock of hitting second. But I'm sure I scared the shit outa the guy next to me.

3. &nbsp; THE BRAKES SUCK..
