OK, guys I need some help on my ebrakes. I have finished swapping over to 5 lug and i've installed the z32 drum dust sheild assembly, but my ebrakes don't hook up properly. Believe me I've been searching. I've searched Zivia and a couple of other post such as :
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=177739
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/0211_project_nissan_silvia/index.html
http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap-ebrake.htm
Now, maybe I've just missed it or something, but everyone keeps talking about being able to reroute the E brake cables through the subframe on a S13and everything working fine which that's not the case for me. I have front and rear 30mm brakes and when I reroute the wires through the subframe, my lines are about 4 inches to long. Since the lines are to long, pulling the emergency brake doesn't seem to have the same function, if you know what I mean. So, do I have the brakes off of a wrong model or something. Does anyone have a better explanation of how to run the cables through the subframe. Anyone have any better options for me? Thanks

You probably have the cables from the 2+2 model IIRC.
You want the z32 twin turbo model cables, since they are for the 2 seater z32 which has a shorter wheelbase.

have you tried taking some of the slack out with the stock adjustment? if so just shorten the cable and re-terminate. sounds a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than finding and buying new turbo cables.

You wont get 4" of slack out with the adjustment. Try, but I doubt it. I think you have the wrong cables.

if yours are from a z32 2+2 you should be able to run those with out having to run them the way they did in sport compact car
they only did that cuz they have the regular z32 cables

Hmmmm..... Ok. I guess I just need to do some more playing around under there. I just assumed I need to run them through the subframe.

Take a drill and drill small holes and remount the cables. They will work fine and will be as strong as the stock location. It ends up under the rear seat. I drilled one hole for the guide and one for the 10mm bolt and tapped it and put a lock nut on the other side. It helps to have another person handy to tighten down the other side. Take your time marking the new drilling locations. Good luck.

2 seater 300zx cables need to be re-routed to reach
2+2 300zx cables can follow the stock 240sx route and will reach
Custom brackets required for both.
I have both cables, and have used both of them. In my opinion, i like the shorter cables.

Oh, so as long as I make brackets or just plain drill holes and mount the cables else where, they will work? I will give that a shot.

You can instead of running the thru the stock location,
Mount them so it takes more line to reach the ebrake splitter.
like others said. :)

if to long just route it longer to get rid of the slack.. or get the right cables...

Here do this, it is an s13 with z32 2+2 that I did with Bardabe.
Installs in about 30 mins once you have the parts. Step by step with pics.
Works flawlessly

Thanks fro20 for the link. Worked great!
But now I'm confused. Am I missing something. I got the brake lines hooked up, I put the wheels back on and dropped the car back down. Pull the ebrake and if I push the car it won't move, but it will roll back on me. What gives?
I thought I was crazy at first. So I let the ebrake down, push the car to the front of the garage. Pull the ebrake, start pushing and nothing. Then I give it an ever so lightly tug and the car starts rolling backwards out of the garage. I had to stop it and throw my old stock wheels behind the tires to keep it from moving. Did I mess something up?

you have to asjust the brake pds ruybbing on the inside of the rotor.
There is a piece that has a square spline setup to it. If you move it one way, the drum brake pads move closer to the rotor and vice versa.
You may just have a pad alignment issue.

I had to take my rotors off and adjust the center part that sliding is talking about with a pair of pliers to push the shoes out. Push the rotors back and and yank the ebrake and you should have brakes.

there's a hole in the rotor so you can make the same adjustment with the rotor on with a screwdriver.

There is a sprocket type on the ebrake assembly. You have to adjust that first before you tighten the bolt on the ebrake handle.

Alright it's been a while, but I need some more brake help.
I finally swapped over the front hubs and tried to installed the front brakes, but I ran into a problem. I'm running the aluminum 26mm calipers and I can't seem to find the right rotors. The rotors that I had ordered don't set back on the hub far enough, so the caliper can not be bolted to the nuckle and fit over the rotor. I picked up the rotors from advance auto and I had to special order them for a 90 300zx. Did they just send me the wrong rotor or do I need to look for another year. From what I understand the 26mm calipers were on the N/A 89 and 90 300zx.
Also, I picked up my new Z32 master cylinder, but I need the small flare that goes in one of the lines. Does anyone know where I can pick this up? The importnut write up for the 300zx swap said to cut the flare out of the stock master cylinder, but I returned mine for the core before I realized I needed the part.

the flare for the master cylinder hit up the local junk yard and hack it out of poor junked 240
also you might wanna check the 300z master cylinder you got there is a very small chance that the one you got might have come with the flare nut already in it
as for the rotors, look up the part# online you'll probably have better luck there than at the parts store, they usually suck at checking their database

I can only answer your bmc questions. It seems that nissan only sells tokico bmc as of late. The napco fitting is not a direct fit for the tokico. I have the tokico so I went to the junk yard and found a z31 with a tokico bmc. I took the fitting out and placed it in the hole of the new bmc.
Do not hit the new fitting in. I took off the secondary bleed valve from the clutch system. There is a short hard line with fittings on both ends that I used to screw in the new furrell nut into the bmc.

from my understanding, the difference between the disc for the calipers is the thickness of the disc, not how is being fitted on the car. I think you might have the wrong hub. I will definitely call advance auto first, and confirm you have receive the correct disc, and go from there. BTW, if you can post some pictures, that would help too, I just got the brakes n 5lug conversion done like 2 weeks ago. I will try to post some pictures later.

The rotor you need is a 1990 NA only, the Z32 wasn't made in 89.

Correct! I just found this out talking to a buddy earlier. Apparnetly I was looking at the parts list wrong and the 26mm calipers were made in 89 but it was on the 90 model 300zx. Not sure what car the parts guy was looking at when he order me the 89 300zx. (did they produce an old 300zx with a different body maybe?)
Order the right rotors and they should be in, in the morning. Now I just need to figure out the BMC issue.

yeah, the z32 was '90-96 but the build dates started in '89.
the z31 finished in '89, i'm nt sure when they started, '83 or so.

Alright guys. I still need some help on my Master Cylinder issues. Does anyone have a their old stock S13 or S14 master cylinder that they could pull this flare out of. If you have done the Z32 conversion and have pulled 1 of these flares out, you should have 2 more flares to share. Help please!!!
http://importnut.net/240pics/brake_upgrade/mcswap/MCswap12.JPG
The second option is to remove a fitting from the stock 240 MC and use it in the new MC. The fittings are pressed into the master cylinder and cannot be removed without destroyed the 240's master cylinder. Use a cutting wheel to cut out the small fitting. Be careful not to cut into the fitting.

Anyone???? Anyone know where I can have a fitting made or where someone might have a buble flair tool????
