Whats up guys im looking for some advice on tires because i am going to be buying a set soon. I have searched the forum and got good info but i need alittle more.
I am running stock s14 SE wheels. My first question is i hear the best size u can run is 215/50/16, but there is very little tires that come in that size(Hankook Ventus, Ziex,Direzzas). Or should i just stick with the stock size and get one of the others.(Fk 452,ecsta,ZRIs).
Basically what im asking is are the 215s good enough tires that i should upgrade the size or are the stock size tires better quality.

Also i am not going to be driving this car much is the snow so is it worth it to get All seasons or Summers? Are the summers that much better in performance and everything?

Sorry for the noob questions but id like to get my tire decision right because i know tires are important.

Thanks very much

The Ziex are ok nothing special ( a perfect all season tire). i like my fk452s i use them as a summer tire. the fk 452 really suck in the snow so if your daily driving the car i would go with the zeix but if its only for the summer and track id go with the Hankooks or the FKs.
just my opinion

If it's going to be driven mostly in the summer/spring, don't waste time with all-seasons. Get tires that don't suck.

Examples: Kumho MX, Falken Azenis RT-615, Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R, Yokohama Advan Neova, Hankook Ventus RS2.

If performance is your main concern, then one of the tires on this list is the way you want to go. I know the 615s and MXs come in 225/50/16, which should fit without too much trouble on stock wheels.

Ok guys thanks for that.
Any other opinions? Anyone running 225 on stock SE's and if so what tires?

Thanks

225 is awfully wide for stock wheels. I'd go with 205 before 225. I've been running kumho mx for a couple of years, and they are great tires.

Ok, i was hoping that i could get the 215/50s but the tires i like dont come in that size (MXs and Fk 452) which is ghey

what about the new federals 595RS's?

those tires grip really well considering its cheap price...

you can fit those 225/50/16 but the sidewall will buldge out alot more...

if youre looking for decent high performance daily driven tires for a good price... i'd go w/ the kumho ecsta mx... if you want to go super cheap... get them 595ss...

Im gonna see what my tire guy says about the 225's..
And i havent really looked at the Federals cuz everyone advertises or talks about them as drift tires but ill look into them.
But im liking the MX's and 452s and they are both around 350 shipped

Bulgy tires look like crap and they don't feel all that great either. I'd stick with the 205/55/16 for stock s14 wheels.

Just take a look at my back wheels in this pic and see how bulgy these tires were. This was 225/50/16 on z32 na wheels (7.5" wide). The tires were dunlop SP sport 8000. You definitely don't want a 225 on a 6.5-7" wide wheel. Eventually I ended up putting direzzas in 215/50/16 on those z32 NA wheels and I liked the way they looked and performed. Direzzas run narrow so they had a light stretch on them. I'd run them on a 7" wide wheel but no less.

yeah, if your tires are too wide, you will get too much sidewall flex and sloppy handling. I'd go with a 205 at the most.

Like everyone else said.

225/50/16 on a 6.5" wide wheel? = No.

Don't do it.

Wider usually is better, but not when your wheels can't keep up with the size of the tire you're using.

Biggest I'd go is a 205/50/16.

Federals suck... Don't waste your time with them unless you want to turn them into smoke and tire marks left on asphault.

RT615's are great for their price but they're not the best. I've been a fan of the Neovas and I've always wanted a set of RE01R's....

But why waste time with bullshit? Get some Advan A048s!

Thanks for the pic man.. your right they do look real bulgy, probably would look even worse on SE's. Ill take your guys word and run the 205s.

And LOL at Yokos, instead of putting track tires on my stock SE's id be able to buy reallllll rims and i wouldnt have to worry about 205 tires at all haha.

Thanks for ur guys input
