*searched*

-Stock KA24DE on 1996 Nissan 240SX

-Check engine light is normal, bulb not burnt out, turns on normally when starting car

-Car drives fine, no problems. Only thing not working is the A/C system. Was not working when I bought the car.

-All OBDII codes cleared before driving

-Drove car over 150 miles total to get it ready

-Went to go Test Only, passed Emissions part with flying colours

-Failed Electronics part due to "Not Ready" status, told me to drive it some more

-Drove another 200+ miles, total over 380 miles

-Went to a regular Smog station to check if it was ready. Not ready.

Here are the OBDII diagnostics:

=Continuous Monitors=
-Misfire: Ready
-Fuel System: Ready
-Comprehensive Components: Ready

=Non-Continuous Monitors=
-Catalyst: NOT READY
-Heated Catalyst: Not Supported
-Evaporative System: Ready
-Secondary Air System: Not supported
-A/C System Refrigerant: Not supported
-Oxygen Sensor: NOT READY
-Oxygen Sensor Heater: Ready
-EGR System: NOT READY

I don't know what else to do. I searched, another guy had similar problems, and he bought a new ECU and fixed it. I ordered a new ECU online, and it should be coming in late next week.

Any help/advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks in advance.

Have the smog tech print out the readiness cycle so you can follow it, it's VERY complicated but usually will clear the unready codes.

I don't remember the whole cycle but it involves a combination of gearing up/down at set speeds, A/C on/off, part throttle, full throttle, etc. The ECU has to see each condition from all possible points before it clears out.

i heard that it can take up to 12,000 miles on some cars to get it ready, but on nissans it should only take about 30 minutes of driving. Go on google, they have this thread where you can jack your car on 2 wheels and have to shift at certain points to get it ready again. It should work

Do you know if the driving cycle needs to be EXACTLY 100% precise, or can it be a little off?
I will ask him and try them out. Thank you.

98% at least. It's very detailed but obviously in real world situations you can't be 100% exact.

Ok, thanks for the heads up.
I got them and am going to drive through them tonight and tomorrow.

Also, the "Readiness Status" of our cars, does it read from the OBDII computer system, or our ECUs?

although this is a old post... i just wanted to give my answer since i was in the same predicament... Anyways... I had the same problem and was pissed off cause you cannot mess up on the SRT drive cycle... i found out that you can get this waived/certified by a smog referee(im guessing your in CA) they are the only ones to overwrite the failure... its a common and known problem with the 1st stages of OBD2. so basically go to a ref... explain whats up... and you'll pass smog...
