Ok so on the 89 240 I just bought (which was previously sitting in a yard for about 18 months), the lock cylinder on the driver's side door doesn't work. They key goes in but it will not turn.
Also the key in the ignition will not come out. I know you're supposed to push the little button on the steering column to remove the key ... but it's stuck so when you try to press it in, it doesn't go in.
What would be the easiest way to fix this? Do I need to buy another ignition for the column? Do I need to get another lock cylinder?
Any help is appreciated, thanks

I don't know if this was just me, but I had the same problem on the column. I bought a new key and it worked fine. I might have had something slighty different wrong, but you could always give it a shot; keys are cheap. Good-luck!

not sure on how to get the key out, but try taking the plastic around the column off, it would give you more access to the area. I do not remember if there is another way to release the locking mechanism for the key.
The door thing is really common, on my one car i just had to slowly move the key like if u were opening/closing. and go back and forth and it would get open the lock, it did this with or with out a new key.
I should have a ignition with key if need. PM me if you are intrested in purchasing.

Does it have power locks? Sometimes the motor binds up and makes it very difficult to turn the key. Also, recently, another part of the door lock mechanism on my car was binding pretty badly as well. I don't remember what it was, but I just removed the door panel, removed the lock motor, and played with the mechanism until I found out where it was binding. Did some adjustments and lubed it up and it's golden now.
as for the ignition, remove the shrouding and take a look at the cylinder.

It does have power locks and the car was sitting for approx 18 months so ... that could be it.
I'm gonna edit the original post to say it's been sitting for so long, forgot to mention it.
