the shroud is there to direct flow, and if its not, then your fan is just pulling air uselessly.

I run no clutch fan and shroud, i rewired the AC fan to a simple on off swith and I frequently drift all day in california heat and it doesnt overheat. I keep the fan on all time after its warmed up though. if you got one more electric fan in place of the clutch fan, you'd be set. plus you get a little more power and balance on the motor by removing it and the engine bay looks cleaner.
