Well for the price I would not expect much. Although it does look comfy and very plush.
someone post a link to these seats, all I can find are dead links.

No, they will be fine for drift day and HPDE. Even BRIDE seats aren't FIA approved.

^^ Hmm I'm going to read up on that, I wouldn't want to get stuck in the situation where I've driven all the way to a track and fail tech inspection.
They do look nice though, I also like the look of the F1spec seats.

Buddy Club, Signal, Chargespeed, etc aren't FIA approved either. That's not stopping people from running them at events.

Wow.
Stop spewing filth.
My BRIDE seat is FIA approved. Some of their seats are approved but not all. You just need to do your research.
But for the level of most drift events, any seat is fine.
Just wanted to clear up misinformation.
If the seat is not FIA approved, you need to have a backbrace built in to your rollcage in case of rear collision so the seat back doesn't collapse

the seats do look comfy as hell.
nevaland9 - what rails are you going to use? there rails on the site look pretty low but they don't have any prices for the low position sliders.
Fusion, stop by TF, I was there and they had one sitting there. IIRC it was going in HandsomeRob's car.

when was that? did he have the bucket or recliner?
it's either these or the black wide version of the buddy clubs... just sold my leathers.
I was there last week, thr/fri, don't recall.
It was a recliner, had a tirangle knob thingy.
sat in it. but my ass is too big for it. So I have to go with BC Wide or some Sparcos. Its on the list among lots of other things.
buddy of mine just put those F1spec seats in his RSX, says they are fairly nice and he loves the brackets. He said he was able to finetune his height and angle with them.

The F1 Seats have gotten mixed reviews on the cloth they use. I've heard if you daily the car, the material wears really quickly. May just have been a few bad seats but it was enough to make me stay away.
As for the Memory Fab seat above. I dont know if this will make a difference but they share some material parts with the STATUS seats since they come from the same facility. This doesnt mean by any stretch of the imagination that these are FIA approved like STATUS but as far as the cover material and some other pieces, they are the same as you find on STATUS. Found this out today when i called them to see if they can match the Alacantra material on my STATUS seat lol!

I'll have a S58L bucket soon for passenger seat. Just gonna make fixed brackets and mount it as far back as possible before it hits my roll bar. Can post some pics once I get it. Are there any chicago 240 meets anymore? You could see it sometime if they have one. And we both show up.

the mem-fab seats seem to be a great deal, and like codyace said, for an extra fee they can be ordered with fia approval (which may give you an insurance discount)...i've looked at these versus the f1specs and i'd choose the me-fabs just because they seem to offer more in the way of convience (washable covers = sweet) and i too have heard problems with the flexing in the f1specs.
if i were spending my money i'd get the mem-fabs

I got my S58L, its pretty nice. Not installed yet...its huge! Barely fits width-wise in my S14, I may pound out the trans tunnel to make more room. Seems comfy though, shoudl be good with the harnesses. I'm thin so there's tons of extra room in the seat everywhere. No idea on the R98, but I think buckets are the way to go. Reclinable seats are bulky, heavier, and I think a good bucket is more comfortable.

My waist is a 30 lol, I'm using this as a passenger seat. I dont like the idea of not being able to have bigger people ride in my car; at the last event I did my instructor was huge, and he would have never fit in a normal size bucket seat. This is insurance against that. My gf has fairly large hips and she fits in there no problem. I think you'd have to be pretty freakin fat to not fit in the S58L. No idea on the regular S58 or the R98.

The S58L is so big that it doesnt really fit between the trans tunnel and door panel on the passenger side of my S14. Granted, I have it pretty far foward because of the fitment of my 4 point roll bar, but it touches the tunnel and door panel. I'm about 5'11", if you were more than 6'3"-ish id expect your knees to hit the glove compartment. Definitely a great seat for the larger driver. I just bolted it to the floor, if you try to use sliders, good luck getting it low.

hi guys, i was informed of this thread by a friend, i work for memoryfab and i wanted to say thank you for all the kind words. now on to the good stuff.
the R98 seat is made in the same factory as Imus Vision seats, same materials however ours are considerabley cheaper and we only offer a FRP version right now. unfortunately i dont have any pics in car. oh also the memoryfab logo does not come on the seat unless special ordered. we also offer bottom mount rails for the seat application as well which lower the driver 1-3" lower than stock.
http://www.memoryfab.com/temp/ht/Seatrailcomp.jpg
The S58 and the S68 models are side mount as seen in this thread are made in carbon and we now have kevlar versions as well. The FIA seats we offer are in carbon and are made w/ the same materials and process is the normal carbon / kevlar seats so unless your sanctioning body requires FIA our normal seats will work just fine. The rails offered for the side mount seats will lower the driver postion 3-4" lower than stock. if you have any other questions please feel free to shoot me an email

08-03-2008, 03:34 PM
I've heard a few stories during accidents, cheap seats bottom mounting points break, and the driver was thrown around.
The bar/brace behind the seat only helps if the driver seat falls backwards. And if the bottom mounting points break, it could slide under the bar/brace.
Remember how many damn people have to run hood pins on their carbon fiber hoods? Cause if they didn't, the hood would rip open and slam into the windshield?
It took a LONG time for quality carbon fiber hoods to come out, so you didnt have to run hood pins. Except their are no "bucket seat pins, holders, braces" that will save your ass when you seat breaks.
Will it break backwards? sideways? in half? splinter into my a-hole? who knows how the seat will break, but without a quality inspection, you won't know.
Cheap seats are useless, can cause more harm then you think.
Edit: referring to cheap seats w/o FIA like F1

this is how it sits in mine with my own brackets, I made two different settings, high and close like that or real low. Materials cost around 15 dollars and a day to get everything to line up.

my review on the seat...here we go...first off the seat is pretty damn decent...not quite bride quality (im a bride hoor...sorry)...the carbon kevlar work is super clean though...its not nearly as snug a fit as the bride gais...which is actually a GOOD thing (need room to move around at times in the leg area...especially when getting my wallet out of my back pocket)...the cloth is fully removeable and washable/replaceable (memoryfab sells replacement cloth covers)
my seat sits a little high right now...its driving me nuts...but its because im using a bride MO rail...i recommend if you buy this seat, you purhcase a bride LOW MAX rail (for use with the stradia, gais and cuga seats)...the low max rail will drop the seat almost 2 inches lower than the MO rail will allow for...there are some fitment issues with the plates on the MO rail as well...took a whole lot of massaging to get it to fit right...but im going to be ordering a low max rail next week...so that should change things a bit
do i recommend this seat...TOTALLY...its comfy...its easily affordable...its SUPER clean...nothing loud about it...it holds like a bucket does...and did i mention its comfy??? ;)

Those seats look nice! But is that not dangerous mounting your harness at the bottom of the seat?

people constantly ask me this...the belts are bolted to the floor...the car is not made for competition...and i REALLY dont feel like putting a harness bar in...its low key and i still retain my back seat...i run in practice sessions at local events only...so im not worried about it
EDIT: read your post wrong...the seat belt isnt mounted to the bottom of the seat...theres 2 eye holed bolts that are secured to the bottom of the car on the sides...the belts themselves have clasps that latch on to them...i cut small holes in the carpeting for the belts to latch onto the eye holed bolts so again...its fairly low key lookin

looks uncomfortable and looks like it would sit to high.

its very comfortable...and it sits fairly low with the correct rail...the bride MO rail isnt made for this seat...i just adapted it to fit for the time being...the low max rail is whats supposed to be used...itll drop the seat another 2-2 1/2 inches from where it is now (which is quite a bit in a 240)

ok so the bride low max rail arrived today...im very disapointed
the seat still sits very high in comparison to my bride brix...i havent taken the car out for a test drive yet...but on the initial sit down in the car...i expected it to be quite a bit lower than the old MO rail i had on the brix
also...getting the low max rail to fit the seat is no pretty job...i ended up having to enlarge all 4 holes on the seat AND the rail to make it fit
bottom line is...if youre on a budget and dont feel like spending 1300-2000 on a bride seat setup...this seat will work fine for you...if you want something that fits perfectly and wont give you any shit...save the money and buy a bride gais/stradia with a low max rail

Any pics of the new setup?
BTW, is it "high" just in the front like it's supposed to, or do you mean it's still high as in like, overall, the entire thing is still high?

pretty much overall...its not the lowest seat out there...its a good bang for your buck...but in all honesty im thinking about having another talk with the seat with a drill and some new bolts on the side to drop it down another inch or two

Sorry to interupt....
How "high" was your old bride brix with the regular bride rail? Higher than factory seats or lower?
Thank you.

lower...much lower...when i had my R32 skyline rail (before it was stolen...its no longer made PERIOD)...that thing was SLAMMED low...i miss that rail =(
brides S chassis and BNR chassis rails are the same unit now i believe...they just have two holes on the outer most mount for the chassis bolts
