my problem is a sr20det blacktop. everything is pretty much stock, smic, and no o2 sensor. running a straight exhaust pipe with hks high power muffler. well the dilema is that my car was running perfect, about 2mths ago it started to act wierd. every time i hit 4k rmp to redline under boost i hear a wistle from the turbo. its not the regular sound when it spools. once it started that sound injector on cyl #1 went out. ok so i replaced it.and it has that sound still, well its been backfiring like75% everytime shifting gears, ever since that sound started also.

Well pulled the codes about a week ago got code 34. (knock sensor) could it be that??? i searched to see what effects it has but none facts found. downloaded the fsm for s14sr but its not there.

could it be the turbo might be going bad. bad seals

can someone help me please? or any ideas?

thank you.

umm well running no O2 Sensor will cause it to run shitty and the knock sensor too So go ahead and fix them. the whistle is probably a vacuum leak some where so check all connections and lines.

Sounds like a boost leak or a vac leak dude - double check all your clamps and all your vac hoses... That takes forever and I hate doing it too, so u might wanna look into building/buying a boost leak tester.

Code 34 - Reset the ECU and see if it comes back. Usually a code 34 comes from a short in the circuit to the KS... OR a bad/melted KS. BTW that code 34 is killing your performance right now since the ECU aggressively retards spark timing when code 34 is in memory.

Injector #1 could have went out for any reason... Could have just naturally died, or it might be an indication of a short in your injector harness wiring.

Try that stuff and let us know -- GL

so i worked on the problems during the weekend, result bad ks. it was burned. took 25min. to change. there was a sudden change sr runs back to normal. i did find out that wierd sound when i boost
is the turbo, there is minimal shaft play on the turbo. im changing the turbo to my t28 next week once i get my circuit turbo lines.

thank you mello88. again.

np glad you got it running good again

Are you sure the other noise is from shaft play though?

i checked all my vac lines, and ic piping everything is clamped and secure. the turbo is a t-25 when i installed my sr about 1 1/2yr. it had no shaft play. now it has very little shaft.
