my crankshaft pully cracked and got realy bad when a shop was about to put it on the dyno. also i have a crank case leak.

the shop wants 350-400 to get a new crankseal, oem pully with hardware and belts and install and overnight shipping. he told me that the oem pully would be better than some aftermarket ones because it has something that the others dont have. i cant remember. but that price just dont sound right.

i found all the parts and the after market pully for under 200+ shipping. and install is under one hour.

to me this doesnt sound right. do you think that sounds right or no. are they tryin to burn me?

that sounds like a lot to replace in under an hour. The price doesnt sound too bad. If you are worried about the price, grab an fsm and fix it yourself.

Its debatable whether the aftermarket pulleys are worth it. but sometimes aftermarket is cheaper than stock so go with the cheaper

well my car is at there shop and i would have to get it towed from there to my house which it would be cheaper to keep it there.

oh, id say just let the shop fix it than, the towing would make it almostnot worth it.

.....i see red squares in your future

edit: you might want to remove that second paragraph from your last post

I'm not completely sure if I'm correct on this, so don't quote me. But I'm pretty sure that the stock pulley has a damper on it to reduce the shock on the crank when the a/c is turned on. Aftermarket pulleys don't have this.

thats what he said but i dont have a/c so would it be better to get an aftermarket pully

well i talked to them today and they said that all of parts including: pully, belts and seal plus the labor for: greedy e-mange tune, install of pully stuff, intake manifold, wire in q45 maf, 800cc injectors everything finished is around 1500 dollars.

im not up on how long all that work should take but does that sound right?

the most labor should cost is 400 bux, then think about how much the parts cost and go from there.

well the tuning labor alone on the dyno is 225 an hour for the e-manage. i didnt think that it sounds right either. ill have to call them and have them break it all down for me.

the parts are about 320

snappy

so 400 labor + 225 dyno + 320 parts = 945.00
do you know how many hours they quoated you?

He was probably referring to a Harmonic Balancer, which our cars dont have. The stock crank DOES have a rubber insulator to help cushion when the AC engages, as previously stated.

You're in a shitty situation, how far is the shop from your house? You can get one of those cranks off of ebay. I have a spare crank pulley I would be able to sell.

they quoted me for 759 for the labor on the intake mani, tune, 800cc and maf.

but now they are sayin that it is gon to cost an extra 900 for just the pully and shit. im goin to call them right now.

Try not to post so consecutively, other people get irritated by it. Just use the edit button.

The stuff for the pulley is a huge rip. I would be pretty pissed and just get my shit out of there and to another shop.

damn, 13 hours? Does that include their lunch break? I really can't see it taking 13 hours. My cuz and I did a complete head swap with new gaskets under 4 hours, and it was our first time doing anything that complicated.

i had called the shop today. they said that the tunin had cost extra because the e-manage didnt recongnize the q45 maf. and that they had to do a bunch of extra shit for that. and the manifold, and maf took 6 hours including all the fabing they had to do for the manifold to fit. next the parts were almost 400 and the labor 3 hours. so it is legit. but i just think that they were slow. but hey they do great work and i would rather pay them than some other shop half the money and get half the job.
