Ok, so I'm Checking out some sites today and I stumble onto GT Channel. On their News link I click on something about the new 370z or the new Z sports coupe, whatever. And on the article its says there might be a possibility for a new Silvia concept!!!!!!!!!!!, @ the Tokyo Auto Show this fall. Anyone know anything about this? If so comment please!

dont think it will happen. I wouldnt though mind if they took the new altima coupe, made it rwd, and called it a silivia.

i'd be offended if they took that piece of crap and called it a silvia, RWD or not

it's too big

Wow, just wanted to share some info......Don't know what's up some peeps asses':fawkd:

Anyway I do agree with s13rookie, It would do nissan good to introduce a new fun to drive car (FR too) on the low end in terms of price, considering their two flagship nissans are for sure gonna be more than 30K.

It does look like some people indeed have put in some thought to the idea
of a 240sx sucsesor, I simply didn't know if GT channel was source enough to start the conversation again. I mean that's why we are all here no? Because we are Nissan car enthusiasts and as such enjoy news and chat about their cars:ughug: . I mean we're not here to find Dates right...we'll at least I'm not, LOL

It's been in the news for a few years that nissan has been mulling over bringing a rwd sport coupe into its lineup, slotted below the 350z. Proof of this is in both the Urge concept and the Foria concept.
I wouldnt be suprised if you see a rwd nissan in the "silvia" vein within the next few years.

A 240SX successor would be ghey as fuck and have more of you fruity ass faggots falling all over our forums asking trivial shit. I hope they never, ever bring anything back remotely reminiscent of the 240. The one we have is bad enough with the bandwagon riding it out until it's done for.

Harsh words man. The problem with the 240sx is they're availability and they're low cost. Almost anyone can buy a used one for under 4 or 5 grand. And that movie didnt help.

But I believe a new, entry level FR platform wouldn't be a bad idea. Start it off at 22,000. Only the people who can afford it - usually the working man/woman with some common sense - would be able to buy it. That keeps the ricers, who are usually (USUALLY) younger people with no common sense and more importantly no money, from being able to have one.

I disagree completely. I hope they do make a bad ass sub-25k-Silvia reminiscent automobile......That way grumpy, old as Fuck Grandpa's can teach us young people on forums like these (In their LMAO funny as hell, bitter way) :fawkd:

They'd have to make it suck alot or make the 350z a whole lot better...

s13rookie
07-24-2007, 10:22 PM
they cant make the 350 any better really cause it will be stepping on the g35's toes. No car company wants to make a bad car , though lots do without trying to.

Nissan has an empty whole in its line up for a cheap light rwd coupe. I too wouldnt really like to see it called a 240- look at dodge and the new charger, how the hell is that close?

They're actually testing a car right now. It looks like a 350Z, but you can tell its shorter. Its just a mule, but a mule testing the drive train is 1 major step in production. Ill see if i cant find the link...

found it.

No no, thats not by any means a prototype or anything. Thats a mule to test the mechanics and engine (you know, all the good stuff) of such a car.

I saw this a long time ago.
http://cars.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=59970&font_size=-1

yeah it will most likely be over 1000 kg, because japan cant make cars lighter than that due to newer safety rules, that didnt apply back when they made s13,s14,s15's.

Im sure they will bring back a Silvia, but i believe it will be cheaper than a Z.

and this link is old, and says that nissan will NOT be using this protoype.

I think the only reason they don't build a 2500 lb rwd turbo i-4 coupe is because it would take sales away from the 350z. *shrug*

There was all that talk about them creating a Scionesque branch of Nissan using their previous name, Datsun. People speculated this would be used for such things as bringing back their light rwd coupes.

SexPanda
07-24-2007, 11:10 PM
Simple solution. Dont make it turbo. Add the 175hp SE-R engine. I think a 2 seater convertable under 25 grand is very viable. If anything, it will take away sales from the Miata, Solstice, and Sky.

its already been talked about... Z33 is as cheap as it will get.

2700~2850lbs car and a N/A RWD 4 cylinder will be the only way nissan can bring in an affordable RWD car.

Nissan already has enough affordable cars(Altima,Versa,Sentra,Rogue) already and one more would hurt them and likely effect Z33 sales. Foria has been dead for a while along with the Azeal... Urge...possibly used to aid in developing new chassis(for other models)? Then they just brought out the Altima coupe....

Just not going to happen, if you don't want a 240 I heard a used 350z is quite affordable, makes good power, and has plenty of aftermarket.

I don't agree with that. The way Nissan has been sharing platforms and engines, i believe they definetly could produce a competitive, affordable car.

shortened FM platform
VQ25HR from the Skyline V36
low slung body work, fastback configuration, reminiscent of 180sx but modernized and inline with nissan's current design language.
no frills interior and options.
target weight of <3000lbs.
target price of <$24,000

Nissan could catch other manufacturers with their pants down... Right now your options for a new affordable rwd sports car are limited..

Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky
Miata

high rev 2.5 ltr V6 with CTVC mated to a 6speed transmission in a RWD platform would be very nice. Shit, just start pumping s15 chassis again and swap in the VQ25HR and bring it to the states...

s13rookie
07-25-2007, 11:59 AM
^^^ could be nice but they need to break away from the same damn body style. Altima, 350, g35, and even the new gtr all look TOO similar

Give a nice sleek body deserving of that drivetrain

Yeah, im afraid that's probably going to be how it is. BUT when Dodge comes out with the Demon, I am going to get my hands on one. Hopefully the SRT version, if they decide to make one.

what you just proposed there, would be simply amazing. I would instantly go to my bank and take out a loan for that vehicle and throw down half cash. in a heartbeat.

To all the debates about a low price tag, something of that caliber of a car that would be 240SX in the present day wouldn't be happening (i think). Because from what I remember the 240SX back in the late 90's was already over 30k. Why would it be any cheaper?

edit: of course with those kinds of prices, sales weren't too hot for the later years

S13's sold new for about 17k, in todays economy it would be about 25k

Kouki S14's were about 23k because there was no Z car those years.

I thought for sure someone had posted up a new car window sticker of their s13 and it was like 11,000. i could be mistaken, i may have been drunk.

but i think what really killed the sports coupes was the minivan and suv craze of the mid-late 90's
