so i drive an auto 89 fastback
with 140K+ on it
yes i know it's a bit dated:-/
i've been have some electrical issues
one day while driving home my battery and brake light came on
i did some research everything seemed to point in the direction
of needing a new alternator so i did just that replaced the alternator
after that i noticed my battery light went away but i still can't seem
to get the brake light to shut off. now once i pass 2.5k rpm the light goes
off but then a strange buzzzing starts coming from what seems like the
cluster. so i investigate and the sounds is really coming from the super junction box above the fuses
i replaced all the relays back there
and still it continues to buzz!! sometimes it buzzes at idle in park
but when i put the car in neutral the light goes away and the buzzing stops!
but once i drop it back in Drive and hit the gas it all comes back the buzzing and brake light
thanks for reading my rambling

check your alternator wires/grounds.. their should be an insulator on that 10mm nut and bolt sticking out,

Generally, when things are buzzing it is because there is a ground problem. To clairify ground problem, I mean specifically that a relay has a poor ground. Relays are the only electrical device that can cause a buzing sound because of the mechanical action that takes place in a relay. Get a wiring diagram and find out what device is buzzing by selectively removing relays and eliminating possibilities.
Just get a wiring diagram and use a methodical process of elimination to find the bad ground.

so i ripped out my new alternator thinking that was the culprit. i got it tested
the numbers were decent Low 13.50 ACTUAL 14.73 high 15.20.
so the my problem lyes some where in the harness either faulty ground
and something of that nature.

What do you mean, you installed it and wired it through an existing relay?
It's like a previous poster mentioned, it is a ground problem through a relay. Sounds like all you did was create another adequate ground for your car to use for whatever relay was failing.
Not really solved the problem.... more like stabbing someone in the foot to take their mind off the bulet wound in their hand.
But at least the buzzing and brake light are gone....for now.
I am assuming that is your car in your sig correct?
Have you relocated the harness in the fenderwell?
If not these seem like problems that happen when the harness is rubbed through by the tires.

i used an fan relay from derale part#16763
i just wired up the fan to the relay then found a 12v source is the fuse box to
click the relay on. so far so good . i also regrounded my engine to the chassis and battery the chassis

RAWR the buzzing is BACK!
so of course after a minimal amount of snow the buzzing and brake light are now back in full force.
it only happens when i'm below 2500rpm if i'm above that
it goes away til i either hit the brakes or allow the rpms to drop on decel
also my blinker on the left side is going crazy fast.
while my passenger side blinker is normal
all bulbs seem fine.
am i over looking something?
where does the fuse panel get grounded in the cabin?
thanks for reading my rambling (again)

You have multiple groudning points for your electrical. There's two in the engine bay. and like 3 in the cabin.
Do you have an FSM? If so check the EL section for the grounding locations.
If you don't have an FSM I'll give you a good link.
